Some of you may remember my Dragon Ball rewrite/parody/whatever using Pokémon as the main characters. I'll probably never finish it, but I wanted to give you guys a good laugh, so I'm going to list what characters would be which Pokémon and the reasons why.
Pilaf Arc
Son Goku- I made Goku a Chimchar for pretty obvious reasons. Infernape is based on the character Sun Wukong, a character from the Chinese folk tale Journey to the West (and the namesake of my own metagame RapeApe). I also found that Chimchar somewhat resembles Goku's appearance, especially after he goes to train with the Turtle Hermit and dons an orange gi similar in color to Chimchar's fur. He would "evolve" into a Monferno during his training before the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai (the Tenshinhan saga), and again into Infernape during his training with Kami-sama for the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai and the final showdown with Piccolo.
Bulma- Bulma is a Panpour simply because Bulma's anime appearance gives her a sort of bluish-green tint to her hair. Pretty simple. She would've evolved after accidentally touching the Water Stone in a comedic moment just before the emotional fourth summoning of Shen Long/Shenron (just after King Piccolo's defeat).
Turtle- The Turtle was made a Tirtouga primarily because the Turtle Hermit (aka Master Roshi) himself was already a Blastoise, I was saving Torkoal for someone else, and I don't like reusing characters except for a few exceptions.
Roshi- I made Kame-Sen'nin/Turtle Hermit/Muten-Roshi/whatever a Blastoise because it fits the turtle theme, and also matches Roshi's bipedal stance. Roshi wears a turtle shell on his back for training, as well.
Oolong- Oolong would've been a Tepig with the unique ability to use Transform (with a joke about him having gone to Action Replay school to learn the move).
Yamcha- Yamcha was going to be a Fraxure, because he both uses a sword, hits fast and hard, and is incredibly fragile. He would become a full-fledged Haxorus during his training for the 23rd Budokai (Piccolo Jr. saga).
Puar- Puar would've been a Shiny Zorua. Puar is better at shape-shifting than Oolong, so who would fit better than Zorua? Shiny Zorua also replaces its reds with blues, matching Puar's color scheme somewhat.
Chi-Chi- She would've been a Torchic. Blaziken is a competent battler with proper set-up (ie, Jolteon), and Chi-Chi is probably the strongest female character in the series until Android 18 shows up. It's also hilarious, considering her father...
Ox-King/Gyumao- is a Bouffalant. He's supposed to be the ox king, but I figured a Buffalo would be close enough, and Tauros was going to go to another character.
Monster Carrot/Boss Rabbit- He would've been a Lopunny. This is hilarious, because Lopunny invokes a stripper, and Monster Carrot, despite being a rabbit, does not. His minions both would've been Buneary.
Mai- I made Mai appear as a Persian in a few anime-only sequences I included. She's supposed to be the smartest one under Pilaf's command (including Pilaf himself), and gives off a sort of secret agent vibe, and Persian fits this in my eyes.
Shu- I made Shu a Vulpix for a similar reason to Monster Carrot being a Vulpix. It's funny, because Vulpix is pretty feminine and Shu is a male, but they're both red-furred canines.
Pilaf- Emperor Pilaf, the bumbling idiot that he is, could only be portrayed by an equally-doofy-looking Pokémon, so I settled on Palpitoad. I mean, just look at the thing. Hilarious. They're also both primarily blue.
Shen Long/Shenron- The Dragon god summoned by having all nine Evolution Stones gathered needed to resemble the one summoned by having all seven Dragon Balls gathered, and I thought Rayquaza fit that bill nicely. They're both green, serpentine dragons. I also hear Rayquaza's got a mean disposition.
And, finally, when the moon is full...
Oozaru/Great Ape- When a Saiyan looks at the full moon, he or she undergoes a horrifying transformation into a massive ape. Although Regigigas isn't an ape, it is known for being incredibly strong, so I think it works in this case.
But, before I leave, I'll tell you that I envisioned the famous Kamehameha as Hyper Beam.
And that's it for the Pilaf saga. I'll probably post the guide for the Tournament Saga (the 21st Budokai) in a few days.
