Ghost Rider's...AN ANGEL? Isn't Daniel Way the Wolverine: Origins writer? Because, if so, I now COMPLETELY understand why people hate that book. I loathe origin-related retcons. Even just adding an extra character is annoying. But THIS? Just...no.
 
Ok so he has the soul of an angle a demon and a human soul? Or is it an angel’s soul and a human soul? Or is it that he has a demons soul and an angel’s soul and no human soul? I love comic books but God I hate when the writers try to get too clever.
 
Just when you think comic books weren't as complicated these days, this new revelation happens.

To be fair, he's kind of right. The Penance stare always seemed like an angelic power to me, too.
 
Well, yeah, his entire power set and motivation was always sort of an "avenging angel" type of thing. His history, however, is anything BUT angelic. This new "revelation" is almost COMPLETELY contradictory to EVERYTHING we've been told up to this point. And where does Zarathos now fit into this? And Dan Ketch? And the entire Kale clan? Plus, why did NONE of the other mystical beings he's been around EVER say anything to him? Or even hint at it?

To me, this is just a pointless change, like Spider-Man's powers being mystical in nature. Too much reinventing of characters lately solely for the sake of reinvention.
 
So, is this still continuity? They haven't retconned it by this point, have they?
 
Little early to have been retconned, since the same creative team is on-board. And the solicitations don't hint at any further revelations.
