GIMP Error

I just started up GIMP and it doesn't have the window that shows the layers. I tried several times to make sure I didn't make a mistake, and the same thing happened. Why is this and how can I fix it?

Did you try creating the layers dialog by going to 'File' > 'Dialog' > 'Layers'; that should work.
