I got the game a week ago, and just beat the Elite Four today. While I was about to Fly, I noticed that one route had been extended to the side slightly. When I checked it's description, it said it was the fourth lake that had been hidden. So I went to the lake, ran across the outside, and Rock Climbed down to a cave. I went in, wandered around for a bit, and suddenly saw a shape I'd seen in screenshots before - Giratina.

My Pokemon at the front was a Lv. 49 Floatzel. I saved because I wasn't sure if it was a runner (like Mesprit), or a stander (like Palkia). I went into battle and saw it was level 70. On my team I had a level 49 Floatzel, a level 49 Torterra, a level 50 Staraptor, a level 50 Medicham (fainted), a level 15 Bronzor, and a level 15 Unown.

I knew I had no chance of catching it, so I thought "What the heck, may as well try it just for fun. I've saved it for when I lose." The first thing I did in battle was throw a Quick Ball. Giratina got caught.

First turn, with no damage done, no attack at all used (not even a Leer), and I CAUGHT GIRATINA WITH JUST ONE QUICK BALL!!!

WOOHOO!

Man all my pokemon were over lvl60 and it took me atleast 100 times to catch it and it took you 1 time. You are very lucky

Yeah... I got it down to 1 to 5 hp, made it snooze and chucked dozens of dusk, timer and Ultra balls at the thing and it still wouldnt be caught.(repeated that 10 to 15 times) So I caved and used a Masterball =/

Same thing happened to me with Palkia, although Giratina is much more impressive.

Yes, Palkia and Dialga have reasonable catch rates. I caught my Dialga in a Great Ball (after the first throw, a Premier Ball, failed). Girantina, the lake trio, etc have 1/10 the catch rate. They usually take a while.
