I thought Wii was a bad idea. I thought the whole "attract non-gamers" concept was a bit silly. I didn't think you'd be able to grab fifties and up people.

Then I saw my grandmother (keep in mind that I'm twenty-five, so my grandmother is well past fifty. In fact, my mother is overy fifty herself), who has never played a videogame in her life, having fun on Wiisports golf.

Nintendo pulled this one out, and very well at that.

I've had the utmost confidence in Nintendo to deliver what they intended to with the Wii following the surprising success of the DS.

I wasn't wall that convinced two years ago that you were going to get non-gamers going out and buying games or games systems. Then my mum stole my DS and proceeded to purchase her own - and this is a woman who really doesn't like games all that much because she "can't work them".

The DS already has proven that Nintendo has a huge new market out there and that they are successfully tapping into it. I merely see the Wii as the next big step in dominating that.

And luckily for us 'hardcore' gamers - it presents a bazillion new opportunities for fresh gameplay for us too. Not to mention a second chance for Nintendo as far as third parties are concerned - a group of people that Ninty have failed to keep on board since the SNES.

I think That Nintendo has a very good idea here, and that nintendo pulled it out quite nicely *nod*

My mom wants a DS so she can play the brain teaser games.

I can see the Wii bringing in a wide demographic. It's probably making Microsoft and Sony tear their hair out. The PS3 and 360 aren't as revolutionary as the Wii despite their higher price. Nintendo's dedication to gameplay appears to finally be paying off.

I may get Trauma Center for my mom. She's an operating
room nurse, and I thought she may be able to relate to it's play.

She's actually beginning to get more interested in playing my
games (and no it's not because of the Wii or DS) She's
been rather curious to see what she might be missing and
has been asking me to teach her everything on stuff that I have.

Unfortunately nothing (prior to Wii or DS) was able to catch
her attention. Now with things like Brain Age I struggle to
hold on to my DS, and possibly soon, my Wii too.

Far Cry, Call of Duty 3, the Legend of Zelda, Red Steel, Excite Truck and in the future from Nintendo alone, Day of Disaster, Project H.A.M.M.E.R, Mario, Pokemon Battle Revolution, SSBB, and so on and so forth.

Not to mention games that happily fall in the middle like Wario Ware or Rayman (The Wii one only).

The US launch has a fair enough mix of the three staples that Nintendo are gunning for - hardcore, new gamers and traditional kiddy crap made by lisence whores (Barnyard, Spongebob and etc till doomsday). The Japanese launch has a slightly wider variety, 'cause they're Japan - and Europe has pretty much just hardcore and traditional kiddy crap to go on this year.

By this time next year though, we'll see all three balancing out fairly. Certainly, NO-ONE can complain with getting a Zelda title at launch. How much more of a full game could you possibly ask for at a system's launch period?

Heh, my mom got hooked on the Kitty Poke game on WarioWare: Touched. Now she's annoyed because someone swiped it from me during the fall play last week... She wants me to get Trozei because she's a Bejeweled addict, and she tried the demo of Big Brain Academy and got totally hooked.

I like the Wii because it's perfect for people who like to play sports, but hate going in the hot sun and stuff. I personally can't wait to see how Nintendo pulls off Brawl and EA Sports Games.

Also, if "Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix" is coming out in Wii, then I bet you'll have to wave your arm correctly to do a spell.

2007 has Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Battalian Wars 2, the new Fire Emblem, and possibly the Kirby game that was originally shown for GCN.

Those are all traditional full-length games and not mini-game nonsense just for the controller. Well, for the latter you have the Wii version of Wario Ware and Mario Party 8.

Oh, and then that Pokemon game that makes the D/P pokes in 3D. (lol)Probably as bare bones and generic as the Stadium games.

The only reason I'd buy that crap is to possibly see Hikari in 3D. :x (She's in the game, right?)

Hear hear for Brawl, Kirby, and Pokemon Revolution!

I'm interested in seeing how the Poke's look in 3D... Good chance, if Brawl comes out beforehand, we'll see what they look like then (most of them --- good chance all Legends will be in Brawl, as all Legends in the past are in Melee (1st -- Mewtwo, Mew, Zap, Molt, Arti ; 2nd -- Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi)... So we'll see Latios, Latias, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys for sure in Brawl... and a good chance the Psychic Trio, Hiidoran, Diaruga and Parukia, Giradina, Sheimi, Darkrai, Regigigas, Manaphy, Fione(?), and Aruseus... Wonder if Aruseus will come in different types.

Anyway, I'm glad this Wii thing is working for the generations before us. Proves how well Nintendo is doing with their work to include us all -- hence, "Wii".
