Hi, everyone! I'm joining your community in the desperate hopes that some super-wonderful, patient, charitable people will be willing to help me understand some things about the Pokemon games. I'm a 21 year old woman who didn't play video games as a child, knows no gamers or Pokefans IRL, hardly uses a computer for anything but information lookup and art browsing, and rarely games except to play LeafGreen, Emerald, Platinum, and HeartGold. My game cards are my one treasure in life. I have over 500 hours of saved gameplay on LG and E each, and +200 on Pt and HG each. I've never battled or traded over Wi-Fi, I nickname all of my Pokes, don't breed them, use Master Balls, or save if one of them faints. I don't enjoy ships. I don't watch the TV series. I don't play side games or spin-off series (Mystery Dungeon, Ranger, that Bushido thing, etc.) with the exception of XD: Gale of Darkness.
Pokemon inspires me to draw. I am not a good artist. I use only traditonal media and do not own a tablet. I typically don't use social networking sites. I have never posted my art online but am not averse to the idea.
I have some tech related questions I'd really appreciate help with, so I'll be browsing/posting around in applicable threads. (Particularly backing up save files.) I'm a really bad n00b when it comes to doing anything techy. I've spent hours reading through forums discussing backing up save files but cannot seem to be sure of exactly what I need to have and how to do it. It seems all of these conversations are more concerned with using cheats or pirated ROM files than creating a duplicate save file on a PC or SD card or whatever. I just want to see a file on my computer and know it is my save file, even if I can't overwrite it back onto it's original game card. The thought of something happening to my game cartridges causes me a lot of stress, you could even say I am paranoid about it. I would pay someone to do it if I knew anyone. "Here's my GBA SP, DSi, laptop, SD card, game cards, and $50. Do you want to use Windows 7 or the latest version of Ubuntu? I'd prefer Ubuntu." Just know I am super lame and will literally need you to hold my hand and walk me through each small step.
Please be invited to PM me for any reason, I'm always willing to chat and will discuss anything you care to talk about be it Pokemon related, some other fandom, or even something serious or personal. I'll try as best I can to help or find help if there is something puzzling you.
I'll probably copy this post and use it as my profile bio.
Thanks for reading! Have a great day/night.
