In general, there is a right way to use something, and there is a wrong way to use something. Music is no exception.

As I said in the partner to this thread, I think the dub's act of replacing music, in and of itself, is not a bad thing to do. For instance, I had absolutely no problem with the first three movies and the Diancie movie getting complete soundtrack overhauls. If music is used well, then that's what matters.

But even I'll admit that there have been mistakes in that department. I've found cases in both versions where I didn't think their choice of music fit. Sometimes it's a minor (insert example here) kind of case, but sometimes it's a major "'Quest for Camelot' using 'The Prayer' during a chase scene" case of mood-killing dissonance.

I'm sure you've also experienced such examples, so, whether it be from the Japanese version or the dub, let's hear them.

(Keep in mind that movie examples are allowed)

By the way, feel free to discuss any time you felt like the music didn't fit, even if it's not necessarily the worst. I should've been more specific about that in the thread's title.

I think most anyone can agree on that. I do too, by the way. Though I consider that movie's dub to be a guilty pleasure, that part is always the worst part of the movie when I reach it.

Well not worse, but KiraKira didn't fit when Fletchinder evolved, and also if they would've use Getta BanBan instead Volt during the conclusion of Ash vs Ramos, it would've been great, i have seen people on youtube doing that, and it fits great

Honestly, I think the Japanese music is a case of great music being used at inopportune times most of the time. Right here is a fun track, so I didn't think it should've been used over the flying Pokeballs scene from the first movie. And I thought the KiraKira example was a mood-killer.

That's a matter of perspective-while I get some of the reasons folks don't like it, I do think that piece works, even if it isn't what some people wanted.

One song I like but have never been able to reconcile as an ending theme would be Toi et Moi from the Japanese version of movie two-it's not bad, but it doesn't seem to me like a fitting song for ending the movie with. I like to think I have pretty accepting view of what works for a given entry, but somehow I can't make it fit.

Natsumeku Sakamichi is great and a really catchy song by itself, but to me it always seemed unfitting for a Pokémon opening. It seems to talk about a summer love or something like that, and sounds like the song wasn't written with the show in mind like every other one.

The opening theme of the BW games. It was used well for To Be Continued cliffhangers, but when it was used in battles and other things it didn't really fit the mood.

Also, I don't like when movies doesn't have its current season opening theme, outside of Movie 9 (and arguably movie 10) I can't think of a time when the replacement was worth it.
