Words are hard to use right now. It's rare when I want to kill someone, and honestly, after you hear why, I don't think I'll be alone. I was watching the news last night when I hear about this group of people protesting a soldier's funeral. Not because they're against the war in Iraq, but because, and I quote: "America is going to Hell." This is a COMPLETELY American group. All white. All Christian (Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas). So, as I'm going to school this morning I hear an interview with one of these people. And...my brain hurts. I hate spreading hate, or increasing the number of people who know about certain hate groups, but since this is happening here..NOW...I HAVE to vent.

A few topics I'm curious in hearing about:

1. Should this be an admissible form of freedom of speech? Or is this more like a hate speech?

2. How many Christians have issues with being associated with this group? Or are you ok with this faction of the religion?

3. Anyone think there are terrorists worse than this? Cause I'm finding it hard to think of any.

Links to their hate sites so that you'll be FULLY informed of their message:

God Hates America
God Hates Fags
God Hates Canada
God Hates Sweden

Usually I enjoy going to hate sites, and just laughing my ass off at the idiocy, but this...is TRULY reprehensible.

God Hates Shrinp
Gotta love these parodies.

1. It's hate speech trying to pass itself off as religious expression. Hell, the Bible itself can be classified as hate speech, so it's no surprise really.

2. I'm not ok with the christian religion (amongst others) full stop.

3. The bastards who bomb family planning clinics come to mind...

Perhaps laws could be made to prevent people from protesting at funerals. Besides that, it's free speech.

I'm sure that there are few if any Christians who would agree with them. This is why it's one church out of the thousands in the nation that are doing something this radical.

I don't know, fucktard... How about the terrorists who are killing people?
.

1. I think it could be classified as freedom of speech.
2. I don't believe in the concept of 'hell' as taught by the major religions of the world. And I certainly don't believe that everyone who calls themself a Christian really is a Christian.
3. I wouldn't classify them as terrorists, though, because they're not using terror or coercion to force anyone to do anything. They're stating what they believe is wrong with the country; they're not taking hostages.

Hey, at least they have the guts to attack the living. But maybe I was a little...high-strung when I wrote that. Kinda hard not to after taking the time to make sure their idiocy is as bad as it seems. And hearing about it all day from...well...everywhere has probably made me a little hellbent.

When was it that "freedom of speech" became "freedom of hatred" and "freedom of stupidity?"

When the US Gov't still hasn't made "thought crime" a punishable offense.

Yet another group and take disgust in because they parade themsleves around as "Christians". Have they given a reason why America is "Going to Hell"? If not, then it's senseless hate speech.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This sums it all up

"Free practice of religion" is only defended by the constitution as far as the precepts of that religion are (relatively) socially acceptable. Maybe not in the words, but as a matter of fact.

Or were you planning to acknowledge the right to human sacrifices of any practicioners of the Aztec faith? If you deny it, you are prohibiting the free excercise of that religion...

If something (such as murder, or hate speech) is prohibited by laws that have nothing to do with religion, then religions have no business getting "free passes", poorly worded constitution or not.

As for abridging freedom of speech, spare me. Should you be free to tell people "let's go kill all niggers?". No, you're not - because you're actually usign a position of authority to incite people to commit crimes (and horrendous ones at that).

Legally, you are free to tell people "let's go kill all niggers".

You are?

Your constitution gets moer and more sickening the more I learn about what's allowed in its name.

Cruelty to animals is illegal. Yet practitioners of the Santeria faith are allowed to kill chickens as part of their religious rituals.

What about Ice-T's rap song that advocated killing police officers? Anyone in the music industry (or in the media) will scream 'first amendment rights' if you dare say that they're polluting the airwaves/television/internet with hatred.

I do believe that the first amendment has its flaws, but the notion of doing away with it altogether is much worse.

That's the beautiful part of America; you can say any crazy shit you want as long as it doesn't directly cause someone harm.

No you're not.

Beautiful, being able to say "kill all niggers!"?

It would take a truly diseased mind to find anything beautiful in laws that allow you to call others into forming lynch mobs.

As long as you aren't serious enough to be prosecuted under conspiracy to commit murder, then there's nothing to stop you.
Evidence?

That would be conspiracy to commit murder, as I said before. And it is good that we allow people to say whatever's on their mind. The government has no business regulating what a person can say or think.
