I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a topic about this yet. Come on, he's like THE most famous Japanese celebrity EVER (even if Godzilla is fictional)!

So, who's seen any of the Godzilla films (no, the American one does NOT count AT ALL)? I haven't seen THAT many. The ones I have seen are Destroy All Monsters,Godzilla vs King Kong, and the MS3TK version of Godzilla vs Megalon, which is the only one I've gotten to the end of so far. I really want to see Godzilla X Mechagodzilla and Final Wars, though there aren't any places where I can find them here. :(

I've pretty much seen only the ones you mentioned, plus Hedorah. My main complaint with them is that the human characters in them are always incredibly boring and usually all bland archetypes (the PROFESSOR, the PSYCHIC, the PROFESSOR's daughter, the LITTLE BOY, the HERO WHO DOESN'T ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING), and yet you have to put up with them for 50% of the film.

I recently went through a mini-Godzilla phase with Godzilla, Godzilla Raids Again, and Mothra vs. Godzilla. All three were good films even if the second one had a few plot holes (why the hell would a cold-blooded reptile willingly go into the icey parts of Hokkaido?) and the third one had that horrible "save the children" thing tacked to the end.

I haven't seen any of them, but would like to. Are they rare?

They're not rare per-say... most video stores carry them from what I've seen. What's rare is if you're a fan of subtitles+japanese tracks. Most of the Godzilla DVDs are dubbed only.

Of course, the dub only adds to the campiness of these films (GOOD campiness :D), so I couldn't imagine watching without a dub, heh.

However, the original "Gojira" was re-released recently with the original feature and the american version with Raymond Burr. Quite a nice package for 19.99...

Also, if you have the Encore Action channels, they air on there quite a bit.
