Yeah, tomorrow today I have to go to the dentist. One of my filling had fallen out so it has to be replaced. As a 22 year old I'm still afraid of going because for me using that darn drill always hurt, one time I kicked of their tray of stuff because they got down to the nerve. I have had 6 fillings so far and even though I took care of my teeth I still ended up with bad luck^_^. So my question to you is, how many of you hate going to the dentist and what's one of the worst things you had to experience there?

Well, it wasn't me, but my mom went to the dentist one time for a chiped tooth that hurt really bad, and EVEN after my mom told her NOT to, the dentist sprayed water right on the chiped tooth, and my mom nearly jumped out of the chair and smacked her.

It's not one of my favorite things to do, but I don't really dread it or anything. But I really hate the scraping. That's what gets to me. At the end of every dentist appointent I rush out of the building and spit all of the blood on to the street. Then they don't let me eat for another hour, so it's not much fun.

Yeow! That would hurt a lot. Well I know I have a filling missing because I was eating popcorn and I thought I had a hull in there so I kept brushing with a toothbrush and I kept scrubbing and scrubbing and it wouldn't come out. So I felt it carefully with my tongue and I'm thinking..."Oh shit! One of my fillings is gone!!' And having to drive yourself to the dentist is almost like driving to your own funeral. ^_^

I dunno what everyone's problem is with the dentist. My dad's been my dentist since my first tooth's cam in. I've also even pulled out my own baby teeth while in the chair.

My last appointment was last week. Always fun getting my teeth cleaned where I work. I do comp stuff. Not the actual cleaning. Good dental plan, though.

I don't mind it. I mean, I'm not too much of a fan of the cleanings (they get my teeth cleaner, but they do hurt), and they had to use quite a bit more anesthesia than normal on me every time they used it (I don't know if they were missing the necessary spot by enough or if I was just that insensitive [lol] to it, but it was kind of funny to see them go o_O when I complained that it hurt), but for whatever odd reason, I don't really mind besides that I want to be at home playing on the computer and/or watching TV instead.

Yeah, I like getting my teeth clean too and going to the dentist, however, I've always been lucky with a pretty good set of teeth: I only had one cavity before and it was on a baby tooth that was falling out so the dentist didn't need to do anything, and my wisdom teeth grew in straight and perfect so they didn't need to be removed. I guess it's all a matter of your experiences.

I actually like going to the dentist. But my dad is the dentist and owns the building

The last time I had to go do a filling on a few teeth, the dentist numbed the hell out of my gums that my upper lips were swollen as heck. >_<

I don't mind going to the dentist.

I dislike the blood and the dentist, though.

Well, I'm glad all you people like the dentist. I had mine done this afternoon, they called me up and had an opening. Well, it was a small hole in the upper bicuspid tooth in the back but it was close to the nerve so it did hurt, a lot. ^_^ I have to go back now and have them cleaned but I don't mind that, it's just when they have to drill holes, that's what scares me. :) But I've never been much on pain either. I guess this is the one and only fear the banker has. lol

I'm pissed, I went to the dentist the other day and found I had 2 cavities -_-. I had one when I was little, but that one came out forever, of course. But now the fillings I get will stay with me forever! They are on the same spot on both sides. I think I'm getting white fillings though, that's a bit better I guess.

But I remember when I got that first filling when I was a kid. Not fun.

I used to be really afraid of the dentist because my adult teeth came in really bad. Because they were so crooked, it took a long time for them to be cleaned, and my dentist kept telling me that I needed to go to the orthodontist. :( I ultimately went through with the whole braces thing and got EIGHT teeth pulled, which was really not fun. But my teeth are good now, so I don't mind the dentist as much. I really hate those x-ray bite wings that they stick in my mouth though.

^ I know. They are so uncomfortable.

And my dentist always tells me to open my mouth wide, which I can't.

Then she gets kind of pissed. :))

Don't count on it. This one I had done was done previously and it fell out so I had to get it done all over again.

Yikes, my two front teeth are slightly crooked but not too bad, I never had braces so I was damn lucky there. But having to get 8 teeth pulled, that I can imagine being a terrible experience.

But now of course I have 5 fillings and a lot of them are down to the nerve so anytime I have something cold like ice cream or really hot like my morning coffee it bothers the nerves badly, but I guess I've learned to live with that.

I have braces but that is the only bad thing about my teeth. I am always really afraid of getting a cavity because I am afraid of needles (along with pretty much everything else under the sun) and don't want one poked in my mouth.

I am afraid of needles
Don't feel bad, I hated needles for the longest time and I hate them still to this day. At least when I have to go for my blood work at the doctor I always make sure I ask for Lisa, she's the best one they have to do it, you can't even feel it, and she's really nice. However going back to the needle part in your mouth, I always get the gas. However trying to drive after that...well, it wasn't too bad once I got out in the fresh air but I was still groggy for a little while.:)

I'm really lucky in the teeth department. Besides one week of sheer hell when I was 12 or so having a baby tooth with a freaking one inch root extracted, all has been good.

I also have no wisdom teeth. I win at the gene pool :D

My only real problem is that all four of my jaw breakers grew in completely 90 degrees sideways. Other than being kinda weird, it isn't a big deal at all, so yay!

Eh, I don't mind them much, only the godawful bill afterwards. o_o

I've had a bad experience when I had a tooth pullen out, though. Despite giving me all sorts of anaesthesia with needling and whatnot, it still hurt when they tried to loosen the tooth before pulling it out. I ended up panicking and flailing about, so they had to get some more people in to pin me down, and contact the male dentist.

Three people pinned me down (which is funny because I wasn't that old. 12 at most) and the male dentist pulled the tooth out in a matter of seconds.

When I got home, then the anaesthesia worked. Bah.
