Yes. Hibiki is his official name. I personally don't get why bulbapedia keeps calling him gold (Or why they call Barry "Pearl")
Maybe because it's not an official english name?
Rather, it hasn't been announced as his official english name.

Because this isn't the anime and the games don't use anime names for the rivals?
Anyone know what Hibiki's English name is? And Katones too?

IS Barry his official name? Or just the animes?
Also think Silver's article should be ??? since he isn't given a real name, which can be stated in the article.
Question marks in titles cause certain things to crash. Particularly if there's more than one of them.
Barry is the first name listed over two games while Pearl is only for Diamond and a 50/50 chance in Platinum.
It should be Barry, but some admins are just stubborn like that.

If ??? can't work due to technical reasons, then it should just stay as Silver because two of the original Gen II games agree with it, even though the remakes refer to him as Heart or Soul apparently. And we should probably call Silver "Gold and Silver Rival" or "HGSS Rival" because calling him ??? is a little weird. o.o; Or we can look up what his in-game data calls him, unless it defaults to ???. In the English version, of course.![]()
The entire trainer names issue is bullshit.
I had Silver, so Gold will always be Silver to me.
These arguments are why we either need a huge ass poll that everyone takes part in, or we go "GEN 2 MALE TRAINER" and "GEN 4 GEN 2 REMAKE FEMALE TRAINER"
This I agree with.If ??? can't work due to technical reasons, then it should just stay as Silver because two of the original Gen II games agree with it, even though the remakes refer to him as Heart or Soul apparently.
While we're going all up in arms about the names the Bulbapedia uses, why does Green/Blue [depending on translation, I mean the green one] continue to be referred to as Leaf?
Yeah that was official somewhere. Totally.
Leaf's name was found in the games' data as a dummied-out opponent Trainer, alongside Red (whose name is Red as it was before).
