Golden Boys Scanscription - by Maxim & Unown_

INTRODUCTION
Hello, I'm Maxim! It's my first scanslation project (not the first try to do one, but the first that went somewhere), so don't expect any masterpiece. It's a scanslation of Golden Boys from Cantonese Chinese. Not really. It's a Chuang Yi scanscription done on Cantonese Scans scanned by Unown_. I know there are some cleaning flaws (I'm far from perfect in cleaning) and I realise it well. But if you notice some other flaw (like empty speech bubble, or something like that), report it to me immediately, As for now, I'll be uploading those scans to Imageshack (not Photobucket, because it resizes). But when I finish the first volume, I'll upload it to SendSpace (or other stuff like that) as a .zip file. Then, I'll do Volume Two, and then Volume Three (if Unown_ ever scans it). So, be patient. More soon.

Final Release of Volume 1 is going to be cleaned by KazukiPP. So, it will look much better than current scans!

You may put the scans on other forums (but not on sites, please), but you HAVE TO give a credit to both me and Unown_ and post a link to the original thread (either at Bulbagarden or PokeCommunity).

ABOUT THE TRANSLATION
It's a scanscription of Chuang Yi Translation done on Cantonese Scans. You'll notice a few slight differences between this scan and actual Chuang Yi translation because I corrected their mistakes and cut the text a bit if it didn't fit the bubbles. I didn't replace SFX, because I don't have any good font to do this (keep in mind that Chuang Yi kept Japanese SFX in their translations). But I hope you may live with these Hanzi Characters in the comic. I also did not use the accented e in Pokémon because it's a pain in butt. I hope you can live without that, too. The first two pages were lousily edited in Paint (sorry for that), for further pages I used Photoshop for cleaning. Hence it's a Chuang Yi Scanscription, I used English names for everything. And I'm not gonna do an alternate version with Japanese names, Sorry.

ABOUT THE MANGA
The Golden Boys manga is not related to Pokemon Special in any way, which doesn't mean it's a fanmade doujinshi. It is a real, licensed and official manga drawn by Muneo Saito. It's based on Pokemon Gold/Silver games, but ends in Cianwood (lack of popularity? author was bored? dunno.). You may like it or not...

Nice. I'd use a different font though, this one looks really unprofessional.

So...they find a Pidgey that's beat up and they instantly assume it was Team Rocket? Nothing about maybe another pokemon? Or maybe it was beat by someone trying to catch it?

I know. I'm going to release Chapter 2 in a better font. Then, I'll make a remake of Chapter 1 as I finish the volume 1. Everything can be changed.

I have to find some better font for comic because I don't really have one (Comic Sans MS = No :P)

Okay. I think I'll find a good font on that site.

Now, the only problem is Antialiasing. I hope I'll find a font that looks nice despite that.

Karmatic Revolution looks nice. Expect my future works to be done in that font!

I just want to say I'm leaving tomorrow (08.01.25) and I return on (08.01.27). So, I will be absent in 3 upcoming days. I won't have any access to computer, scans and my comics there. So, nearest update will be next week. I'm sorry.

I know it's slow but I put the third chapter on.

It has taken so long because I was travelling, then I was (and still am) kept busy by school. But I hope you didn't forget about me.

OMG, I lagged Imageshack. If you can't upload your files to Imageshack, or it loads very slowly, then it's probably my fault.

Imageshack is notorious for removing images that have been accessed too many times. Maybe you could try using Tinypic instead, or a Photobucket account (maybe a separate account for each chapter)?

Photobucket resizes. So does Tinypic. That's the problem...

Time traveling Pikachu. This manga is as outlandish as Special. I love it. XD

Maybe it's time to zip the individual chapters, rather than wait for a completed volume? I didn't have a problem with Imageshack, though. Maybe the bandwidth limit was reached yesterday?
 
Actually, I don't think there'd be a problem with resizing if the pages were split, instead of two pages being put up together. But, as long as they're available on Sendspace later, it shouldn't be a big deal.

The art in this is really bothering me. o_O I'll keep reading, though, since... I'm the manga mod, lols.
 
Photobucket's never resized anything that I've put up, but I don't recall if I've ever put up anything that big either.

I like the art in this series. It's very Sugimori. And the next chapter has an adorable fat Cyndaquil.
 
I'm currently working on Chapter 4.

I know it's very slow. But school is keeping me busy. I think from now, the release of my Golden Boys Scanslation will be weekly.

And a bit off-topic: Tomorrow, I'm going to have an MRI scan (no, it's not a manga scan!) which will prove that thing under my tongue is (or is not) dangerous. If I die because of it, there won't be any more scanslation, so here's the hoping that the scan turns out good and my life is not endangered.
