Good god. 0_o

I don't totally understand it the way he explained it, but it does seem like an awesome trick.....

Hrm, looks more like that Ditto breeding moves stuff was a bug after all...

I wonder if there's a possibility for them to patch the game via people connecting to WiFi, or if this will simply be a bug we'll have to live with...

They already do that for Animal Crossing, don't see why we wont see it for Pokemon.

According to pika, the RS berry patch was nothing more than a trivial modification of two pointers, or at least in the Japanese version.

On the other hand, this sounds like something non-trivial. Far more so than the walk-through-no-man's-land bug discovered last month. It may not be possible (or desirable) for this to be patched via a save file. For instance, PMD Blue, which was recalled, as you may recall.

Very good point about PMD Blue, and I remember reading about how horrible a glitch that was.

As far as the things that have been discovered in Diamond and Pearl so far, it does disappoint me that these weren't discovered prior to release however things cannot be perfect. As long as these glitches do not affect my regular gameplay than I am perfectly content.

Haha. There's a link in that thread to the post *I* made about Ditto not being able to forget the learned moveset. I'm the example. lol

PMD Blue would sometimes erase the save files of whatever was in the GBA slot at the time if it wasn't PMD Red.

Anyway... it's trivial to transfer save files from one card to another, especially since they actually know how the flash chips inside the card operate.

That is true, but I imagine that not everyone is going to return their game... indeed, I doubt that very many people will even take the trouble to do so, since, as others say, it does not affect regular gameplay.

Hmmm...point taken. It's certainly not as serious a fault as far as the every-day gamer is concerned, at least not at this point anyway. And given the nature of the problem, it's probably better that they use a hotfix anyway, if only so people couldn't possibly attempt to gain an unfair advantage in WiFi battles over people who did get a fixed copy.

Well, seeing as you can only do "Live Vs Human" battles via FCs, I can just battle one of you guys or something.

But seriously, this bug must be stopped. It just doesn't feel right.

A more general solution that would also take care of other kinds of cheaters would be to run the participant's team through a verifier on the server side and disallow Pokémon with obviously impossible movesets.

Granted, you would probably need to set up exceptions for certain event Pokémon like Flying/Surfing Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu...

But, you forget in the future installments this gen their could be new Move Tutors, and teach previously unlearnable moves.
