As shown in the games, anime, and mangas, people often like to keep Pokemon as pets rather than using them in battle exclusively, a good example of this being Jame's Growlithe he nicknamed Growlie. What are some Pokemon you think would make great common household pets or ones you would find the most believable.

The first Pokemon that comes to mind for me is actually Growlithe because they commonly behave like dogs and they're known for being very friendly and loyal Pokemon. Lilipup and its evolutions also fit this.

Feline Pokemon such as Glameow, Skitty, and Persian also are a few I think would be common household pets if Pokemon were real.

I agree that cat pokemon are very good household pets. However, my brother would prefer Dragon Pokemon being pets than any other.

Now that I think about it, Mightyenas are pretty good Pokemon to have because they have loyalty to their masters and wi attack someone else (as mentioned in a pokdex entry). Absols are very beautiful and they can sense diasters coming, which is good for the owners

I could see some people keeping an Eevee or a Vulpix as a pet, since they're rather small. For someone who likes rodents, a Rattata may not be a bad choice. For bird lovers, Chatot might be popular.

It would depend on the person, really. Some might go for a "traditional" pet, others might want something exotic. Though I think it's safe to say that a Rayquaza wouldn't make for a good pet!

I can't help but mention Mr. Mime. It seems to work well for around the house chores, as shown in the anime. I'm sure other Psychic-type Pokemon would be helpful as well, since they can help move/clean-up easily.

no pokemon in particular, but possibly a psychic type for cleaning, electric type for emergencies and maybe grass types for home grown gardens...but for a 'pet' I would probably pick something that can fly...like a Dragonite! or Ninetales..all those tails!

I could see a Golett doing the same thing; it's small enough to fit in a home and it has hands, which come in handy for cleaning. I just wouldn't consider the little guy a pet, though. More like a best buddy or something.

That's funny, I was just thinking about making a thread just like this the other day. You beat me to it!

To me, I could see pretty much any smaller Pokemon make a good house pet, with the exception of ghost types (because they'd probably do something horrible). Ralts in particular would probably be a great playmate for small children, at least in my opinion. Kirlia and Gardevoir could also be really helpful for caretakers and babysitters, seeing as they all react to human emotions and seem to genuinely care for the well-being of others.

I think Bug Pokemon in general would be excellent around the house. I would love to have a Beautifly helping me pick up stuff and also maybe a Paras to keep the gardens fresh.

In Unova, I don't think you could have a better household Pokemon than the Lillipup chain. Lillipup and Herdier make good pets for playing and occasional help with work around the house. And seriously, who's gonna mess with a Stoutland?

Any of the Eeveelutions would be good pets! They're cute and cuddly and loyal. They're conveniently small but pack a lot of power and would protect their trainer with their life. I myself would have just about every Eevee...they'd even help get the household tasks done with their variant typings! Flareon could help start a nice fire on the hearth and Espeon could help reach those out-of-reach objects with its psychic powers.

Furret seems like a great pet. It's big enough to really snuggle with, but small enough to stay indoors. It just seems like a really good companion Pokemon.

Furfrou seems like a good pet. The novelty coat thing would be great for kids, and they are so loyal they were once guardians of kings.

Chimecho would be a really cool companion to have in the house. It's easy maintenance. It can just float around anywhere. It also has some abilities that are very therapeutic for humans and other Pokemons.
It can create beautiful tones or music. Your house will always be filled with gentle music.

Chikorita is a beautiful Pokemon to be around with. It produces relaxing, soothing and fragrant aroma that can ease our body and mind. Combine with Chimecho's relaxing music, you have yourself your own spa! If you have a bigger space in your house, Meganium would be even better.

Castform is a very useful Pokemon to have especially if you live in a place with unpredictable weather. It is very reliable to have to predict the weather coming. You won't be needing your smart phone's weather app anymore.

Swablu is a reliable companion to have especially if you always like keeping your home clean. Swablu are gentle spirited Pokemons that are used to being around humans too.

Floette and Florges are great to be with if you love gardening.

A swablu would be a wonderful little birdy to have around the house. It's small, adorable, and doesn't seem prone to make loud noises at sunrise. And once it evolves, having a dragon at your side would be pretty cool.

im obviously going to say absol, but other then absol I would say pokemon like vulpix, skitty, bidoof, Pikachu, and other small pokemon would make good pets(except slugma, never slugma)

Probably just stuff like Eevee, Glameow, Growlithe, Vlpix, Skitty, etc. As random cutesy stuff.

Also Finneon, Magikarp, Feebas, Goldeen, and the like if you have a pond/fishbowl, and Surskit living on the pond.

I think it would depend on the Ghost type.

A Gastly would probably make for a very difficult pet; they seem to have a bit of a mean streak about them. Rotom might be a bit of a pest, as it might take over your fridge and eat everything that's in there. Golett would probably be pretty harmless; at the most it might knock over a lamp then cry afterwards. Of course then you'd have to calm the poor little guy down...

Why do I have a feeling I'd have a house filled with Golett? And that I'd spoil them all?

I would want to have a trapinch and a wooper, but those are probably not ideal in a household environment. I don't think it would be damp enough for a wooper, and a trapinch would make terrible sand traps everywhere...

Another bad house pokemon but that seems to be in every house in Kalos is Espurr. Those things are able to murder you!

Best pet, I suppose anything canine or feline like. I'd like a skitty I think.

All in for Mr. Mime. But one of the greatest unsolved mysteries ever will be: how and why do female Mr. Mime exist?
