I know its terrible that I even looked it up, but I keep reading about the supposed Gotcha cheat, where saying/yelling Gotcha in your DS Mic helps catch the pokemon. Is this really true? Anyone think it works?

Also (hehe...) is there any Pokeball cheats for the DS games that help with catching Pokemon, I know its terrible, but I cant use the WiFi to trade and having so much trouble with one pokemon is annoying lol.

No, I think somebody is just having a laugh thinking that they're influencing people to say "gotcha" into their DS. Or at least, I've never heard of it.

I don't think that works. I don't know any codes either.

One thing that seems to work for me, is when you throw the ball, press A right as it closes, then tilt the + pad in the opposite direction that the ball rolls each time until it clicks. I THINK that works. It's what I use, anyway...

An interesting idea, but the code monkeys have confirmed that catch rate is determined solely by the variables and a specific formula. :secret:

And yes... the "shout into the mic" thing is a prank.

Ive used god knows how many pokeballs on Uxie atm, do Pokeballs count as turns, cos I could start using the Timer Balls I guess lol

Yes, they count as turns.

Do you have her health down to only one or two pixels wide? Is she paralyzed, or (alternatively) are you keeping her asleep as much as possible?

Are you using Dusk Balls?

If you can answer "yes" to the above questions, then it's just a waiting game at this point.

Back in the RBY days, there was a very popular rumor that holding down the A button of your Game Boy while you threw a PokéBall would increase its capture rate to that of a Great Ball, and a Great Ball to an Ultra Ball. Even though I never observed any real difference between holding down A and not holding down A, "old habits die hard", and to this day, I still hold down A every time I throw a ball.

This is just a new face for an old trick. Nothing more, nothing less. People are the same in 2007 as they were back in 1998. Yell into your DS mic if you want, but don't expect us to be joining you. ^_-

none of my pokemon, that are high enough to be in the match against her with out being one hitted, can paralyse or sleep however it is down to 2 health and ive used 20 Dusk Balls, 5 Luxury Balls, 5 Heal Balls and 7 Great Balls

I have some Ultra Balls

I have only 5 Ultra Balls and 20 Timer Balls Left tho...

Actually, I got wayyyyy too lucky and caught Uxie with a Quick Ball at the very beginning of the battle. I was like "meh what the heck" and it worked. So I guess you could try it, but I don't think it happens too often. And yeah, get one who knows sleep, freeze or paralyze, not poison or burn though. it will kill it before you can catch it. As for the A holding thing that Talon87 mentioned, I soo did that all the time in RBY. Ahhh. Good days. :)

My friend caught Diagla less then an hour using a Quick Ball

I punched him ....

Oh and Ultra Ball worked first time XD

I caught my Dialga in a quick ball at the beginning of the battle, first time I fought him, on the very first turn. XD

I can remember gaping at my DS screen and finally muttering, "well, that was anticlimactic..."

I always mashed the hell out of the buttons in advanced generation. I apparently it doesnt do anything, but it gives me more of a feeling of control than just tossing and leaving the outcome to the fates XD

I thought I was screwed when I caught Dailga, because I had no idea you could try again to catch it later in the game. I had three ultra balls, and one master ball... my second ultraball caught it.

My brother wasted his masterball on his palkia... That so sucks.

Whilst the Topics alive - if i start the Elite Four by accident and lose, am I able to retry later?

Yeah.. and you can fight them as many times as you want after you've beaten them all to.

Advice: save before entering the door (past the Center), and then don't save at all as you go along. Honestly, the hardest guy to get past imo is the very first one, so if you can beat him, then the other three members of the E4 should be no problem for you. Cynthia is of course "the hardest" of all five, but if you can handle the first guy without using more than one Revive and two potions (of any kind), then you've got no worries.

A lot of people recommend powering your way through the E4 with Revives and potions and stuff. You can try that too if you want.

Finally, don't feel bad about losing your money if you lose because it's easier than ever in D/P to go from rags to riches.

Weeeeeeeeel... Palika thrashed him with well...no problem

Does it count as cheating if your Pokemon can control space itself?

Yeah, just spend every cent you have on stuff you want, defeat the E4 (or go on multiple suicide runs through the E4), and then go get more monies. ;-)

Does it count as cheating if your Pokemon can control space itself?

No, but the fact the Ho-oh can barge through the entire lot of them all by himself (at level 80-something, no less) is the next-best thing to cheating.
