Well, my brother decided to get this game, and then promptly got me to try it.

I've got to say...for a concept that sounded pretty dumb at first (diving sim?), this game actually delivers. It's a no-pressure game (think Pokemon Snap without the railroad pushing you along), but addictive.

Honestly, this game has some rather familiar vibes - between an Encyclopedia that might as well be called the Fishdex (Yes, it's blank, yes, it your job to fill it), and picture-taking sidequests (yes, with your picture being graded, on generally the same criteria as Snap), there is a certain poké-vibe to the whole thing.

And at the same time, the game has the sort of whoa moments that are entirely too rare in Pokémon. When you are swimming your way through a network of tunnel and run head against head (and teeth) into a Hammerhead, for example. Or when simultaneously you reach the edge of a very deep sea canyon below you, and a BFNF (Big fucking non-fish. Wailord's IRL cousins) pass by overhead.

So yeah. Surprisingly addictive, as I was saying.

I love these type of Sandbox simulation games, but I haven't had the chance to pick it up yet. I'll probably get it next week if I get a chance. I have really been looking forwards to this game for a while!
