Hello everyone, I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself here as suggested by the welcome PM.
I've been playing Pokemon games since the very first generation. I was about 10 back then, which was the perfect age for getting swept up in initial wave of Pokemon. I have very fond memories of playing those games, watching the original anime, and playing with the original sets of cards.
I got away from it for about 10 years, until there were plans of doing a Pokemon themed "mafia" game on another forum. I started researching it and all of the old memories came back. I had a DS with the GBA slot and decided to pick up FireRed. It was an excellent decision as I loved the nostalgia of the game and everything that had been updated in the franchise since the last time I played. From there, my collection of games grew (I now have at least one from each generation/series) and even recently started rewatching the Anime. (I'm about halfway through the Hoenn arc currently.)
In terms of how I'd rank the different games in my personal preference, I'd say this:
1a.) Gen I/FRLG (Nostalgia points boost it)
1b.) Gen 2/HGSS (Probably the most solidly-done games overall, plus I love being able to revisit Kanto after a time skip)
2.) XY (At first I was unsure, but they grew on me the more I played)
3.) BW/B2W2 (Were my #2, still a solid #3)
4.) R/S/E (Alright)
5.) D/P/Pl (Wasn't a fan...felt unpolished, found it relatively hard to build a quality, balanced team, random spikes/drops in difficulty)
I'm very much looking forward to Z/X2/Y2/whatever they decide to do there, as well as a potential updated remake of any of the Gen III games on the 3DS. And while it's almost certainly never going to happen, I'd love to see Yellow remade as well. Sadly, that one seems to be a black sheep that is never going to happen...
I'm also an aspiring writer and I have a good start on a Pokemon fan fic series I've been writing. That was what originally spurred me to make an account, as I'm looking for a good place to post it once I'm done tweaking/nitpicking it.
Anyway, thanks for reading this far and have a nice day/happy holidays!
