Hello all,
I'm Kane Dunestorm, and I'm new-ish to these forums. New-ish, because I had an account way back a long time ago when BMGf was still somewhat new, when Gen 2 had only come out in Japan. If you have been around for a while, you may also know me as either TyphlosionKevin, BlazikenKevin or Kaneda Morspeed. Also, if you get around the Facebook Page community at all, you may know me as ~ Kane, the creator of "Sonata Articuno" and short time Content Creator at "I'd rather be playing Pokemon".
Long story short, I'm a long time Pokemon fan. I've been a fan since I first started my copy of Red Version in 1999 (ironically, I was nearly the same age as the main character back then, only a year older at 11). After that it stuck. Its the first game series I consistently purchased the sequels to, and the first franchise I ever pre -ordered (Pokemon Crystal). By the time I was in High School, I was playing 3rd gen, and by that, I mean I was actually playing it in High School. I played with a rather large group of friends every day at lunch. This group was actually large enough that nobody really bothered us - we actually had quite the mix of people, heck, I learned a lot about competitive battling from a guy who was a linebacker on the football team (he even taught me the formula for finding EVs of a Pokemon from their stats, something that was third gen exclusive). I skipped 4th gen (I still played on battle simulators like ShoddyBattle though), however, because I didn't manage to obtain a DS until I got the White Version DSi Bundle for my 23rd Birthday in 2011.
Contrary to what a lot of people might think about people who have been around for a while like me is that, no, I don't hate the later games. I actually have a strong distaste for that type of people, and I honestly believe that the first games were actually the worst, due to all the glitches and bugs (I still love them though).
Additionally, my favorite Pokemon is Cacturne, and my favorite type of team to use is a Sandstorm one, influenced a lot by my outside environment where I live (Sonoran Desert in Arizona, United States AKA Orre
).
Besides Pokemon, I enjoy a lot of different things. I'm a pretty big fan of Heavy Metal music - the page I admin on Facebook is a hybrid Pokemon/Metal page and I regularly attend concerts in my area. I also am a huge Star Wars fan, and know a whole bunch about the inner details of the universe, and not just the movies but the Expanded Universe as well. I love computers and am a pretty big techie; I do freelance web design for a living and my favorite Operating System is Linux (however I most often will be seen using Windows due to Linux's lack of Games and Adobe Creative Suite). Last but not least, I'm a pretty big gamer, whether it be traditional video games (I have in addition to my DSi and 3DS a PS3, PSP and 2 gaming computers), card games (Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!. I don't like what Pokemon has become though because it seems like a cash grab now to me.), tabletop RPGs (Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Star Wars D6 and Saga Edition to name a few) and LARPing (Live Action Role Play).
Any questions?
