The next expansion set for the TFG has been revelaed, Groundbreakers. It will be released in Winter 2007 and have 40+ figures, new trainer cards, and new status conditions (Noxious perhaps?)

An interview about TFG can be found here:

http://comics.ign.com/articles/834/834231p1.html

And there is this quote from WPM at Pokebeach:

For those of you wondering whether or not organized play will be established for the TFG, the interview states that Pokemon USA is considering it (and they probably will wait to see how well the TFG sells this holiday season to determine this). PUSA is already working on the third TFG set, so we can definitely say that it will continue to sell - organized play and tournaments are another story, though.

*crosses fingers for breloom, gallade and cradilly*

I'm still hoping for Frontier Brain figures.... fat chance.

Yeah, we've been discussing that on Pokegym. (If you're into the TFG I recommend you go there) One member and a "pokemon prof." (whatever that means) claim they saw this Skydive starter set in Wal-mart.

If this list is true, what do people think of the pokemon in the next set?
Im not excited about many of the pokemon, probably just bulbasaur, kabuto, lapras, cacnea and kadabra.
I guess i might change my mind once i see sculpts and their abilities (im excited to know what burned/noxious do, the new trainer cards and whats the blue line on brock and misty mean!!), but overall, they chose a whole lotta uninspiring pokemon - noctowl, mightyena, smoochum, snubbul, spinarak, uggh !!

I notice there is a whole lot of pokemon from the same family... Maybe they'll introduce evolution somehow?

Maybe that could be a trainer card? Eg Evolution stone - replace pokemon in play with the figure's next evolution. (eg pikachu/raichu) Having said that, pikachu is a pretty good figure, and i dont think ill always necessarily want raichu over him, so i guess there should also be a devolution spray trainer card if they implement that idea !!

After looking at the poster of the new set, http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=2054226266&size=o

Ive changed the pokemon i really want! Blastoise looks AWESOME ! Im disappointed the way they sculpted bulbasaur, considering how fragile these figures already are, i dont think his vine whips are going to last long! And i never liked noctowl, but he looks so cool !

AAH, im going to be so upset if they dont release it in Australia !

The American release of the set doesn't have rarity markings, because they eliminated the concept of rarity for the full release there. That doesn't make them any less real than the ones from the original Australian release. We were only a test market. The actual characteristics of the figures were only finalized for America.

Well they had less of a mistake compared to the one's made in the US.
Hopefully they'll get it right this time.

Hi, folks, I was the person that purchased a "Skydive" starter at a Central Ohio Wal-mart on 11/15/2007. I posted a story on pojo.com/pokemon where I normally write Loretta's Toy Blog whenever I find new items at retailers. I'm terrible when it comes to computers, I'm Pojo's age and grew up before PC's were common! I don't know HTML and I apologize for not "sourcing" on Wikipedia. I'm not sure how I should have done it. I noticed another fan scanned the back of the starter--awesome. I don't own my own PC or cam/scanner, so, my reports are soooo lo-fi. :) My main point of writing to Pojo is to help kids and parents find the new items at reasonable retail pricing as opposed to going onto e-Bay and paying many times more than in-store. Parents often need help finding the right stores... ;) I don't plan to post here, I only logged in to let you know, yes, it's true, the packs are out there. Good luck finding 'em and I'll keep posting when I have news on pojo.com. BTW, Bulba is awesome; I read several other sites, however, the news I post is what I find when I physically walk into a store, which I do daily. I use e-Bay to snoop to see what items are out there; then, I go on a hunt to retailers to find out "where to buy." :)

Happy Holiday!

L.

I can confirm that they are at the pinole Toys R Us, but I haven't gotten them to the floor, yet. The problem is that they sell for $16.99, a two dollar mark up. If you really want the starters, try asking a nearby Toys R Us. They may still be in the back, though, so you'll need to ask if you don't see them.
