I'm aware that the way the DP cloning happens does not work in Pt. However, I accidentally came across a weird way to clone a Pokémon (I doubt I can do it again, since I believe this was some kind of GTS server mistake instead of anything caused by me).

Last evening I logged in to GTS. I received a Suicune from a trade (I had offered something random). I put in a Claydol and proceeded to search for legendaries. Eventually, I came across a Ho-Oh which was offered in exchange of a female Staraptor and succeeded to make the trade. When I searched for more legendaries (not trading, just searching), I got a Communication error (that happens every now and then). I reconnected to GTS. Then I got the message "STARAPTOR was not traded.", which was strange, since I already made the trade and got the Ho-Oh. Anyway, I got my Staraptor back (so essentially it was cloned, though I didn't get the other copy). Though, my Claydol disappeared in the process.

Now, I know this may sound strange and some of you maybe won't believe this, but it really happened. Has anyone else had any similar incidents?

D: Whoa, that sounds real weird! I get communication errors and the like all the time on my Platinum. I don't even get to see the levels of the Pokemon being wanted by other people. >3> I'd be upset if that happened, though. Were you fond of the Claydol?

Never happened to me. Though, I wouldn't go so far as to call this cloning. More like just some random glitch.

Nah, it was just a random foreign Pokémon I had evolved. Once I have evolved the foreign Pokémon (and thus collected all the entries it can offer me) I'll put it on my shop or on GTS. I have too many of these now-evolved Pokémon, though (boxes are pretty full, about 10 to 15 empty spots overall) - no one seems to want the ones I have :D

Meh, it may not be pure cloning, but it's sure that my Claydol turned into a Staraptor. I think it would be interesting to get a good Pokémon cloned like this if this would be possible to be pulled out spontaneously (e.g. trade Deoxys for a Lugia, put up a Magikarp, get lucky -> glitch occurs, you get your Deoxys back and still get to keep the Lugia).

As a sidenote, I haven't even seen that "X was not traded." before in any situation. When does it show up naturally?

That is wierd my sister has never had that happen to her
Was that Claydol my foriegn Baltoy?

There is an actual way of cloning on Platinum but it happens rarely, often due to a connection error. You may also lose your pokemon in the process.
this basically sums it up. there are some cloning glitches flying around, it was just a lot more common in DP.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this happened to me, except I think and I'm not 100% but I put my feebas up in exchange for a Manaphy and when I got the Manaphy it said the same thing 'feebas can not be traded' or something. It might not have been then cause I dont remember I just remember that message popping up but getting the other pokemon.

Heres some common glitches/coding errors:you CANNOT see levels of pokemon on platinum...if you get a message you cannot trade a poke like the classic「this pokemon cannot be offered for a trade!」that means it was hacked which is read by the game coding...like the bad egg'glitch put checks on stats..or it has a classic ribbon/ie its event which cannot be traded gts wise..also very rare yet commonly seen glitch in platinum is pokemon turning into other pokemon..check deoxys on gts.youll see a shaymin.this is done by changing the name somewhat to the pokemon..then trade but get an error..this is why its rare...its very situational.your pokemon turns into the one asked BUT you cannot get it..itll turn back to the original...so the idea you got that poke in platinum is ubsurd.simply on gts others will see an out of place pokemon.like shaymin on deoxys list..it is also very annoying.its been their for two weeks already..XD

Interesting. All my friends have Platinum and we've never seen this kinda thing before.

It's moar liekly tha you think.
All memes aside it souds like a one off glitch. File under "oddity"
