GTS Everstone Usage. Is it good or bad?

I once posted a haunter for trade for another haunter over the Global trading System on wi-fi using my diamond version. I was expecting the haunter I receive to evolve into Gengar when I received it, but it didn't because the person who traded it with me attached an everstone on it. I in return got a horrible IV haunter, they got a Modest Nature Gengar

My questions to you all is this:

Would you do this to someone to prevent them from getting a cool Gengar or any other Pokemon that evolves from trading? If yes why?

Have you done this before? If so did you do it to be spiteful?:bash:

I've never done that... .-. I find it to be rather rude, and as a fellow collector, that would be one of the things that irked me. But, alas, there are still the asses of the Pokémon world as there are on the interwebz.

... If you still need a Haunter to evolve into a Gengar, I'll trade you my own. ^^ It's not problem to me.

If you put a trade evo Pokémon up for trade, then take it back, it should evolve without ever having to trade it.

EDIT:

Nupe... doesn't work.

Pu the trade Pokémon up, then complete a separate trade and withdraw it.
Without a trade taking place, I don't think it works.

That's funny, and just stupid of you. Very very stupid. Because you can see the item the pokemon has attached on the GTS. So it's your own fault and not that dude you traded with. And it's funny to trade haunter, kadabra etc. with an everstone (with people like you expecting it to evolve), maybe I should do it once xD

I'm fairly certain that the OP is complaining about a situation in which they put a Haunter into the GTS asking for another Haunter, and therefore, it was impossible to know it would be traded with an everstone-holding Haunter. Not really "stupid".

It works. That's how I got my porygon to become a porygon2, then a porygon-z.

On a side note. I don't think it's that bad when the one with the everstone is put up. Granted, I fell for it once though. Although I gave him a lvl. 1 Bonsly for a level 40 Haunter (he said any level). But it's VERY annoying when your the one who put up an offer and get an everstone.

Why so negative? If you read what I wrote I stated that I put up a pokemon up for trade. Have you ever put a pokemon up for traded over wi fi? If not I suggest you do so before posting negative comments about something you seem to know little about. Thanks Don'tRunWithScizor!, you are on point on this:kawaii:

Yeah, I hate that too. And, although I don't really mean to advertise my own thread, this really should go here.

Watch yourself. Calling other users stupid is typically infraction-worthy, but I'll let it slide this time. Might wanna edit your post, since I can't guarantee that the other moderators will be so forgiving. Additionally, pissing people off isn't always funny. Additionally, you cannot determine what item the Pokémon you're receiving will be holding if you're the one who initially posted the offer. It's stupid of you to assume you know what you're talking about when you clearly don't understand what's going on. Very very stupid.

Thats sad. This is the Internet though, and there are all kinds of crazy (and mean) people out there.

I had never thought someone would do this, so I will have to watch out when making a trade of the same type. Maybe looking for a pokemon that someone else posted?

Good luck with your future trades, not everyone is evil.

This person here seems to prove the rule that people on the internet can be asses for no reason other than pitiful amusement. I've seen this person post several times and more often than not it is negative or a rude needless putdown.

There seems to be a lot of inherent flaws with the GTS, other people in this very thread have pointed out the evolving pokemon without trading. Sorry to hear from your loss, I can't say I have never been cheated like that...

Yes, I agree.
One such flaw is the fact that you can't search for Pokemon you want, until you have actually seen/caught it, which strikes me as pretty pointless. I don't think they really thought about the GTS a great deal.

Oh no, poor you D= ! What that person did is really, really mean... I would never do that (and I'd hate it if it happened to me). =(

Ow haha, sorry. I read the first to fast again. I tend to do that a lot. In that case it is kindof sad... Sorry everyone >.<
