Over the GTS, I must say it takes about 50 tries to get an english pokemon. I mean, it took me almost 30 tries just to get an english milotic. Is there any way I can stop this from happening?

I know most people don't care if it's japanese or not, but it's frusterating for me. :/

Why?

And no, there isn't; there are simply more Japanese Pokémon on the GTS then there are American ones.

The thing to do is ask for a Basic Pokemon the evolves into what you want. That way its name changes to the English equivalent.

Besides that...it's not a big deal. Just don't be so picky.

Eh, I have a Japanese Milotic and it doesn't bother me.

Although it is pretty stupid that the Name Rater doesn't let you rename Pokemon in trades. You'd think by now they'd change that.

Don't really understand your issue there. o.o" I would actually prefer Japanese ones.

Eh, it doesn't really bother me, but I can certainly understand why it would get on some peoples' nerves. I think we should be able to rename pokemon we get in trades.

That would also take care of some of the stupidness.

For instance, today on the GTS I found a Kadabra whose nickname was "BOOBS!!!!" and a Raichu whose nickname was "DICKACHU".

D:

Yeah. Re-nicknaming traded pokemon should definately be an opiton.

I also prefer Japanese pokemon. Their names just look so much more exotic. My shiny Drifloon was Japanese. But I was pretty upset when it evolved and the name became English.

Can you see the nickname before you do the trade?
If you're doing a search for the Pokemon, yes. If you're putting one up and askng for that species in return, no.

And that is the story of how I got "FUCK YOU!" the Spiritomb.

I breed every Pokemon I get in trade anyway (those that can breed), so it's not a massive concern to me.

To us, I don't see that it could be more than a minor annoyance.

It's the kids that will get their DS confiscated when their parents see the names that I feel sorry for.

For those of us who don't speak Japanese, is anybody else ever wary of taking a pokemon with a Japanese name, just because it might, just might be a dirty word in Japanese? And then we'd be an unknowing laughing stock when we send that pokemon out to battle?

I mean, if the english kids are naming their pokemon "BOOBS!!!" and "FUCK YOU!", then who's to say that kids in Japan aren't doing to same thing?

Some of these nicknames are just hateful (as funny as they may be). I think that the only nickname I've seen on the GTS so far that wasn't a swear or private part of some kind was a Piplup named Clockwurk.

I actually see more English Pokémon than Japanese ones. I haven't seen any Pokémon with dirty names, either, actually. Then again, I've only just started going on the GTS.

But they really should let you nickname the Pokémon you get in trades. I'm the type of person who has to give their Pokémon a nickname >.<

LOL... yeah, if I'm trading a Pokemon with a nickname I usually go to the name rater to change it back before I put it on the GTS. I don't use rude nicknames or anything, I just figure people would be happier that way... haven't gotten any Japanese Pokemon with suspicious names yet though.

I have a Japanese Purugly named AABAB. '_'

Definetly agreed with the idea of the Name Rater being able to re-name traded Pokémon. Does it really serve any point to not have that option?

Am I the only one that finds this slightly ironic?

I like Japansese named Pokémon. Infact, I like to have Japanese named versions of my favorites.

You can easily lookup the Japanese name and see if it matches the name of the Pokémon you received in a trade. o.o

But how would that help someone know if their Pokémon doesn't have a name that's a dirty word in Japanese? After all, the OT might have just named it Balloon or something in Japanese.
