Today (well, technically tomorrow but Japan is ahead in the time) is when the official HGSS guides release officially in Japan.

Here is where they're advertised. There are four of them (won't be surprised if there is nearly the same content in each of them). You can just see the information about them here, though. As for purchase, they're available on Amazon and such services.

What bugs me about those guides is that they all have "Johto" in their titles. Could this mean that they do not include Kanto journey and the separate guides for Kanto will be released later? No idea... I just hope that those guides cover the adventure at least until Elite Four, so we can see the artworks for E4.

Also, I hope that somebody will be able to get (at least) one of those guides and share the never-before-seen artworks with us.

Discuss.

and can I emphasize, PROPER SCANS?

PROPER SCANS?

Of course, that would be totally awesome. As long as it's possible. If it's not, artworks alone will satisfy me.

But of course, scans would be totally awesome. The last scanned Pokemon guide that I downloaded was DP Prima Guide scanned and PDFed by #pocketmonsters. That was long ago and #pm doesn't do this anymore...

Ones probaly learning how to be a trainer, the other probaly Johto walkthrough, other Kanto walkthrough, then the Pokedex book.

...do you realize how stupid this sounds? Not the Pokedex part, because I'm sure one of those is a Pokedex book, but they don't need a whole separate book for Kanto.

Why are there four different ones?

They probably have roughly the same content but different focuses. One book probably focuses on Pokedex, the other one on walkthrough etc.

There is no Kanto guide (yet?).

The titles of the guidebooks are:
  • 任天堂公式ガイドブック ポケットモンスター ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー ぼうけんマップ&ポケモンずかん:ジョウト版 (Nintendo Official Guidebook - Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Adventure Map & Pokedex: Johto Edition)
  • ポケットモンスター ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー ジョウトクリアBook (Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Johto Walkthrough Book)
  • ポケットモンスター ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー公式完全クリアガイド ジョウト攻略+ジョウト図鑑編 (Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Official Complete Walkthrough Guide - Johto Capture + Johto Picture Book Compilation [OMG, could this be an art booklet?!])
  • ポケットモンスター ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー 公式完全ガイドブック ジョウト攻略編&ジョウト図鑑 (Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Official Complete Guidebook - Johto Capture Compilation + Johto Picture Book)

The "picture book" (図鑑 "Zukan") part in the last two titles could mean Pokedex. But usually when they mean Pokedex, they spell "Zukan" in Hiragana.

I plan on purchasing them around November/December, so If there's no scans by then, I'll scan the art we don't already have.

But that's a month or so from now.

Thanks in advance.

Let's hope that someone on 2ch or even someone from here will show us some artworks prior to that, though.

Yeah, let's hope but I doubt it.

They invented trolling, I doubt we'd see any scans even if they wanted to give them to us.

I think what's more irritating, is that there are Western Pokemon fans and bulbagarden users that live in Japan that can and sometimes do purchase things we want scans of, but don't bother to do so.
Not that they're obligated or anything, but I think it'd be verry much appreciated.

Actually, Yaminokame (or someone), already posted the artworks. (No Kanto Leaders yet.)

They're not high-quality though.

Enjoy.

OMFG god Lance is so awesome. And OMFG Will is feminine yet so Will. But Karen oh good lord too damn sexy for the game. But still they captured the old looks just perfectly. OMFG cannot wait for the Kanto guides to come out.

All four of them are done by different publishers.

The publishers are, from left, to right, Shogakukan, Mainichi Communications, Media Factory, and Enta Brain.

It's like how we'll have a Brady Games book and a Prima book in the States even though both books will have roughly the same information.

Dogasu lives in Japan. You can ask him reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaalll nice...

I don't have any interest in buying those books and I don't own the games.

Also, I don't have a scanner with me here in Japan. I hope to fix that before the end of the year, but by that time somebody else will have already scanned everything.

PlayAsia has the books for sale, though.
