Most of the Gym Leaders in HeartGold and SoulSilver have some frustrating new battle tactics up their sleeves, and they tend to make challengers a bit angry. Which Gym Leader(s) makes you want to pull your hair out?

For me, it's Lt. Surge. This pretty much sums it up: KAGE BUNSHIN!!!!!

EDIT: Now covering the Gym Leaders and Elite Four members of all games, rather than just HG/SS.

Only one that was somewhat annoying was Whitney, just as last time. Other than that, the rest were pretty easy, though Lance was annoying the second time(don't know if you mean to include the E4 too).

I hate fighting Lance either time. Three Dragonites is just obnoxious, no matter how you cut it. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded them throwing in a non-Johtodex pokemon for the battle (he's a champion, he can get away with it).

As of right now, it's been Morty. (Though I've only got 4 badges). I thought I was doing great when I whooped his Ghastly, but then out comes Gengar who has this huge Shadow Ball. Took some hard work but I only had one pokemon faint. Then two Haunters? Ugh. Hypnosis and then dream eater a gazillion times. Then I use that awakening and it's BAM Hypnosis!

Super obnoxious. I can only imagine what the others will be like. Though I haven't been leveling my pokemon as much as I could be.

^ Same here! It took me days to get past Morty's Gengar. That shadow ball!

Nope, nothing. Akane/Whitney was a bit of a pain in HG breeze in my SS while Tsukushi/Bugsy was a pain SS but a breeze in HG. :/ So it kind of balances out. Everything else was easy. >_>

Blue was annoying, lost to him once, other than that, nothing.

Though the kimono girls...

Whitney... Whitney, Whitney, freaking whiny Whitney D| If not for the fact that stomp is a Fighting Type move (apparently -- which, in my opinion, it shouldn't be), then she's got her dang cos using Rollout or freaking Milk Drink whenever you get its health low enough. =A=;; I trained and brought a Ghost Type with me for a reason, and that's not so it can get hit by her non-Normal Type moves.

I assume Miltank has Scrappy. Besides, Fighting-type moves don't hit Ghost-types, and with Scrappy, it would have been "not very effective" on Gastly, anyway, because it's part Poison-type.

Oh, man. The Kimono girls. I fought them last night. I'm not gonna use the word, but let's just say I felt like an early morning jogger who's never seen again. Is it just me, or does it seem like Umbreon has a surprisingly high HP count?

Other than gym leaders, though, for a long stretch in the middle of the game I got a pervasive feeling in the game that my Pokemon were never as powerful as they should be for the level they were at. Super Effective moves won't do as much damage as I expect, I take more damage from attacks I'm resistant to, etc.

Didn't have trouble with any Gym Leaders.

Well. Except Kingdra. And only because Dragon Rush loves to miss.

My only real trouble with a Gym Leader was with Morty in Ecruteak. Although I had some trouble with Whitney and Rollout, the second time through she never used it. But both time I fought Morty, he Shadow Ball spammed. Fortunately, I had a Gastly that knew Night Shade, Hypnosis, and Curse. I also had Super Potions to counteract the HP cut.

And some say Ghost-type Curse isn't useful...

Ghost Curse is not useful in the competitive field (I'm talkin' Wi-Fi), but in-game, it's destructive.

I had a tough time with bugsy actually...

I recently beat jasmine so I haven't faced all the gym leaders yet

See, I don't do competition, EVs, IV, or any of that metagame crap. So if something saves my butt, whether it's acceptable or not, it's fine with me. lol

I'm actually surprised how much easier Whitney was for me in this game. In GSC, she usually gave me a bit of trouble, but in SS I was able to (fairly) easily take her out on the first challenge. She didn't even have Miltank use Rollout for me until it's HP was well into the yellows. One attack after that and she was toast.

I was extremely suprised to see Blue's
Trick Room
strategy. Caught me off guard the first time.

Nice to see the AI actually using a cohesive strategy other than "smash".
