Hello, it's kind of been a while since I was an active part of a forum, so I'm probably going to sound sort of awkward ^^;

In comparison to most people, I'm pretty new to Pokemon as I didn't start playing until Gen 4 with Pokemon Pearl. My favorite Pokemon is Empoleon considering Piplup was my first ever Pokemon, but oddly enough just about in every other game I stick to fire-type starters

I'm contemplating getting into competitive battling, but considering the first person who told me about competitive battling was a jerk about it and told me my Pokemon sucked and his could annihilate my team, I've been kind of intimidated and hesitant to give it a try. So I decided to join a Pokemon community in hopes of getting advice on how to build a solid team.

(And I don't know if it's worth mentioning but I'm also an artist and I actually drew my own avatar)
 
Hi welcome to the forums :)

Im sorry about what your friend told you about battling, dont worry though, not everyone who battles is like that, there are many people here willing to help you make a team and get started. You can visit the Battle Center section to get help for this. Im sure they'll be able to help you. Have a great time here.
 
Welcome @Twiliunicorn; to our friendly forums. I'm not a moderator (yet) but I'll still be more than happy to help with anything you might need in the future, Pokemon-related or not.

Personally, I think it's great that you began your journey with the fourth gen. People do learn a lot traveling Sinnoh (Which is my favorite and the coolest region ever).

You don't have to worry about finding rotten trainers that trash talk here, everyone is nice to each other and they always make an effort to get to know each other. I recommend hitting up The Bulbagarden Battle Center to get back into competitive battling!

If you're an artist, why not put your work in our Art Gallery on display! I'm sure your fellow Bulbagardeners will love them! (^o^)/*

Hello twiliunicorn! Welcome to the forum! Just out of curiosity, are you a brony? If not, sorry for me assuming, but your name made me think you were. If you are, there are lots of brony groups on here you can join! If you want to get into compettitive battling again, join bald accountants battle arena! I don't battle there, (just chat) but the people there seem very nice! I also noticed you like sinnoh, which is a favorite of mine! Lastly, I loved your icon! I draw some myself, but never really had time to post it on here (and don't want to face any critisism) however, you can post it here on bulbagarden! I have seen people do this, and it's a great way to get people to see your work! If you need anymore advice, come talk to me! I'll be happy to help!

Actually, my username doesn't have anything to do with MLP or Twilight Sparkle (even though I did watch the first two seasons, though) it actually came from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

And I finally realized I set the drawing as my profile picture, but not my avatar ^^;
