I don't want any hacked pokemon on my game, but I don't know how to determine them!!! How do I find the hacked pokemon so I can get them off my game?

Only way I'd know is that when it says where it came from. It'll give it a random level that it wouldn't normally be at (Like "Met at Level 100 in Route 218" [/random location])

That's how I'd know.

Might want to also look out for level 100 shinys caught in Cherish balls at klevel 0 in a place called Mystery Zone. Those are hacked. Saw a kid with them and he was upset that I told him.

But, yeah watch out for Charmander: "Caught at level 2 Rt. 202."

There is a remarkable fact that can be used to check the legitimacy of Pokémon caught in the wild in either Nintendo DS or GBA games, but it's probably not too useful to the average person. See here.

Another way to verify if the Pokemon is legit or not is the Pokeball.

If you see a starter in anything but I Pokeball you know it's fake. For example, Shiny Charizard in a Masterball is fake. Shiny Charizard in a normal Pokeball is legit...possibly. Unless it came from Kanto or Hoenn at a low level or an egg.

Check the OT and the ID. If the ID is 00000, it is fake. Also if they have peculiar names like NameMe(Milotic) it is fake. If the OT is NOONE(no one) it is fake too. If the pokemon knows peculiar moves like Skarmory with Hydropump or Charizard with Crabhammer, it is fake. However, if you trade from XD, they know different moves like Articuno with Extrasensory, it is still legit. And 10ANIV means it is legit. Fateful Encounter is legit. Also if the contest conditions are full in each area, it is fake

List:
Check wierd OT
Check unusual ID
Check peculiar name
Check abnormalcaught level
Check existing area caught
Check what pokeball
Check unusual moves
Check abnormal stats
Check contest stats
Check obtainability

I have a Salamece with 00000 as the OT, but everything else checks out....

If you see a starter in anything but I Pokeball you know it's fake
Not the Johto starters (mid-form and up). Colloseum caught possibly.

Shiny Charizard in a normal Pokeball is legit...possibly. Unless it came from Kanto or Hoenn at a low level or an egg.
No, because you can't tell if it came as a Charizard.

Well...I'm keeping it.

It has a legit moveset, legit stats, and has caused no problems.

Lol. Is the level 999 Shiny Arceus with Max Stats in a pokéball that I got from GTS fake?

Joking ><;;;

No, because you can't tell if it came as a Charizard.

This true about the Johto starters...but why does it matter if it came over as a Charizard or not? The thing to look at is the Pokeball.

Ah. Thats a relief ^^

But yes, you see the weirdest things on GTS. My friend got a shiny marill with really odd stats and weird moves.

It's really made me not want to do the GTS.

Thats scary. I've never traded or fought using Wi-Fi but I don't know if I want to. How likely is it for you to be given a hacked Pokemon. Is it rare?

I've hacked Pokemon myself, and it ruined the game. I want to start again doing everything properly, so I don't want my efforts be wasted if I ever trade with someone whos hacked.

If you do get a hacked Pokemon would Nintendo do anything about it? I dont know, I've never used WiFi with Pokemon yet.

If the Pokemon is hacked properly, you won't be able to tell(aside from being paranoid about anything with good IVs or shiny status). And a hacked Pokemon you get from a trade(particularly from someone who knows what they're doing) won't ruin your game - the hacker's game had to survive to be able to trade with you, after all, and from what I recall, hacked Pokemon that are so poorly hacked that they ruin games aren't allowed to be uploaded on GTS. Trading with specific people may or may not have that luxury, but most Pokemon forums have trading areas where anyone caught giving away game-ruining Pokemon would be blacklisted fast.

The hacked Pokemon you can discern are going to be blatently obvious - starters in balls other than Pokeballs, Pokemon with moves they can't legally learn, and so one.

And for the record, I haven't gotten any hacked Pokemon from trades...unless they're so well-done that nobody would ever be able to tell.

Also bear in mind that I consider the "OMG hacked Pogeymanz r everywere and r gunna rooin ur game!!11" to be empty paranoia for the most part, and that I also think that Pokemon fans in general have overblown the risks of hacking Pokemon(if you have ANY idea as to what you're doing, anyway). I don't hack myself(can't be bothered to buy an AR when I'd use it maybe once out of boredom), but some common sense combined with reading about hacking from people who AREN'T on a cruscade to stop all hacking ever can help a LOT. I don't mind if you don't want hacks in your game, but please stop acting like your DS is going to explode if a hacked Pokemon so much as glances at it.

As long as the Pokemon has legit stats, I don't see why it matters what level it was caught at.

Hey, uh, Juputoru, if they have a legit stats and legit moves why would they be hacked? Isn't hacking supposed to improve stats and such?

(I'm not a hacker so I can't tell)

Or they could use 'em to trade for Lengendaries and hard to catch pokemon, like starters. But still, I agree with the above. Check moves, OT, Id #, and other things too, just don't get too trusting of every person on the GTS.

I think its safe to say that I should not trade for that shiney lv.100 arceseus with blast burn, hydro cannon, frenzy plant, and rock wrecker, a lucky egg, all stats at 999, ot MIYAMOTO, and an ability of wonderguard, right?
