Hamas and Fatah announce reconciliation

They plan to form a coalition government in the near future.

Rather surprising news considering how much bad blood there's been between them.

Certainly not if Netanyahu can help it. Hamas especially can be very volatile, so I wouldn't be surprised if things fell through here.

Well, ethnic factionalism is never a good thing, especially within a state like Palestine which is struggling merely to be recognized. Ethnic solidarity is important.
