Harry Potter 7 split into 2 movies.

I've actually heard of this several months ago. I have some movie catching up to do...
 
I heard this years ago. Except that back then it was probably just speculation... But it's old news anyways. I'll probably buy it on DVD, since I'm not a Potter fan anymore. :P Same for the 6th movie.

Well, they quite obviously didn't decide to split it into two flicks because of the book's longevity and depth. You are giving them too much credit. They did it for the money. Period.

As for the movies and whether or not I'm anticipating them; no, I am not. I wasn't a fan of the last book, so I doubt I'll be a fan of the flicks.

And as it has been said above, this is old news, but it's worth a discussion regardless.
 
Well, I happen to like the darker and edgier turn the movies made.

For me, it isn't the fact that they are dark that bothers me, most of my favorite films are extremely dark and morbid.

The last book, more than any of the others in the Potter series, is vapidly formulaic, and it doesn't deserve the praise it has received. Dark and edgy doesn't fix vapid and formulaic.
 
I haven't read the books, so my experience has solely been with the films.
 
Sorry for asking a N00bish question, but which one is Harry Potter 7? Is that this movie, the Half Blood Prince, or is it the last one, the Deathly Hallows?

To me, either way, it sounds like they are tying to expand upon the license as originally I think they were guessing it'd be 9 books rather than what it ended with.

Throw an intermission in. If you care about length you shouldn't be there.
 
Well, yeah. I thought they had confirmed this when they announced the date for the 6th movie. Just as long as the movies bring in their usual level of quality (IMO) it will all turn out fine.

Book 7 is Deathly Hallows, the last book.

And yes, obviously they are doing this to milk every possible dime out of the series.

I don't mind as long as both are of good quality. Sucks that we have to wait even longer for the Voldy/Harry battle at the end tho.
 
Yeah, yeah, we know. :P Deathly Hallows is pretty epic in scope, so it makes sense.

I hope this means we get the heart-breaking death of Dobby adapted to film. That nearly made me cry.

What I'm wondering is, where exactly will the split point be? My memory of the book is pretty hazy, and I can't really recall a good spot to split the movie into two.

As I mentioned either in the forest of dean(I think I actually can't remember if its there or after the dragon...no wait it has to be the forest of dean which is after the dragon...fuck I have to read it again XD) when the snatchers catch em or possibly when ron leaves the group right before Godric's Hollow. Or possibly Godric's Hollow when they see the statue. And yes it might be old news but we haven't been over this(I think) and now that the 6th movie is almost out we should get talking. Upsets me though that we have to wait till 2011 or even 2012 for it.
 
The problem with splitting it into two movies is that the first part has to have a proper ending and the second part has to have a proper beginning. They might pull it off, but I doubt it.
 
There's really not that much to split up. Most of the book is just Harry, Hermione, and Ron camping out in the middle of nowhere and acting like assholes to eachother for 10 months and then they get everything they had to do to defeat Voldemort in about three days.

There's quite a bit actually that has to go into the seventh movie, but they don't need to make it two movies.
 
They will probably add the funeral to the 7th movie.

NO!

I will not, I will refuse to even acknowledge it as an official film is this happens. I'm already ticked off enough that the moves are separated. Any more butchering and Potterwar is back! Mark my words, WarnerBros!
 
This will obviouslt alter the order of events slightly from the book in order to accommodate the split.

I think the ending of the first part will be
the part when Ron returns to the forest and saves Harry from drowning.

Then the second part will be the epic battle at the end, etc.
