Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Hal-low: verb (used with object)
1. to make holy; sanctify; consecrate.
2. to honor as holy; consider sacred; venerate: to hallow a battlefield.

It probably refers to the locations of the horcruxes.

Kind of a stupid name. Part of me wanted her to just name it "Harry Potter". But I suppose Harry Potter and a sillier name for Horcruxes makes sense, too.

The Hallows is another name for the four magical treasures of Ireland, also seen in the "Young Wizards" series:

Problably a connection there.

I hope that Harry has a huge epic DBZ-esqe battle with Voldemort, Ron dies sacraficing himself, Harry and Draco fuse, and Snape revives Dumbledore with the Horcruxes....

I don't understand the neccesity to spoiler mark the title. This entire thread is about the title. o_O

Deathly? Kind of awkward to say.

I don't the Hallows are Horcruxes. It's probably something minor, ala Goblet of Fire.

Yeah, the Goblet of Fire had the strangest title, because it had hardly anything to do with the story. All the others had titles refering to the focal point of the book - Philosopher's Stone, the Chamber of Secrets, Sirius Black, the Order, and Snape. 4 was just like "Also, we have this flaming cup that's there for 12 hours . . ."

I'm wondering, but how come the American version uses "Sorcerer's Stone"?

Hey hey hey, don't diss the Goblet!

Because Americans are silly and don't know what Philosophers are.

I think it's a typo of Deadly Hollow.

In chapter one, Harry goes back to Godric's Hollow. But it's deadly, so he dies.

I therefore predict Harry will die in the first chapter and the rest of the book will be about Luna saving the world from vampires.

Isn't someone confirmed too die?

Anyway, I don't see why they make the titles so secretive....it seems people take Harry Potter too seriously....

It's an okay book, but I never considered it a "epic, jaw dropping novel of the ages".

Because they thought Americans were too stupid to know what the Philospher's Stone was, even though it's a staple of fantasy fictional and alchemical history, and thought children would be put off and confused by a book on "Philosphy".

Everyone is going to think Harry's going to die now. Especially if they read Yahoo this morning.

I think I prefered my title for Book 7:
Neville Longbottom and Voldemort's Big Mistake.

Harry Potter is serious business!... no but really, I think people are just spoiler paranoid. I remember people looking at The legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and saying after it came out: "OMG, Link turns into a Wolf!!??!!1 SPOILERZ PLEZ"

When I first read the title, I thought there was going to be a cross-over with Bleach, lolz

WOW!!! Everyone in my Civics class was screaming like crazy when they heard this!

I think it's a great title, seeing how Deathly relates to Voldemort and Hallows relates to the location of the Horcruxes

It feels so weird to get a title after this long waiting for it, even though there are more than 7 months to go...

*sniff* I was just going to make that joke.

Water dam, I forgot to say something about Bleach when I was typing. :/ Ah well.
