Has any Pokémon on the show made you dislike the species in general?

Has anyone on the main cast made you dislike a certain Pokemon? That you use to like this has happened to me mainly a few times with Piplup, Axew, and Scraggy I use to like them in game but I guess their personalities just got on my nerves after a while.

I found Togepi boring after Orange like most people did because it did nothing and drained away Misty's personality. Piplup also got tiring at times due to being in every episode and in most of Dawn's battles.

Other than the terrible two, the others don't really bother me. Axew isn't as "in your face" as either Piplup or Togepi were, so it doesn't bother me as much. That being said I just realized all the out of the ball Pokemon have been pretty bad.

For that matter I just realized May is the only one of the 4 girls not to keep a Pokemon out of its ball in every episode...I think that was for the best.

Hikari's Mimirol...

I was never too fond of the Mimirol species, but Hikari's rabbit got really old, really fast. A whole series without any development whatsoever, a runnig gag that was never funny ( or never felt like a gag in the first place...more like an excuse for a personality), without good battles ( how so with that moveset?) or an interesting character...all that in a series that was rather well written in terms of Pokémon personalities...I just don't get it.

While I still like Pochama as a character, the constant screen time hogging got on my nerves because Hikari's other Pokémon suffered from this. I guess this is the reason while I tend to groan whenever I see a Pochama in anything Pokémon related ( not the member her, of course :p ).

Oh, and Pikachu.

I guess Buneary never bothered me. Yeah it was just there so Dawn had a cute plush pokemon, but I loved the way it battled with its ears.

I dislike Dawn's Togekiss merely based on principle. What the hell were the writers thinking by giving Dawn a fully evolved Pokemon after all her contests were over and only 2 episodes before the Grand Festival? It would be as if someone gave Ash a fully evolved Pokemon right before the league for free.

Seriously when you stop to think about it, Dawn's entire team was seriously mishandled. Don't get me started on Ambipom. But as for her pokemon overall, only Piplup really grated at times for obvious reasons.

I never "disliked" any Pokémon from the main cast.

If I had to choose, Brock's pointless Sudowoodo.

Its not as if it was any more pointless than his other Pokemon. Brock's Crobat literally did nothing in any of its three forms.

Pikachu and Oshawott.
Pikachu is just everywhere all the time and has to do everything.
Oshawott just needs to go away.

Dawn's Piplup invoked enough of my rage to cause me to hate the entire Piplup species. No lie.

Other than that, not really. Sure, Togepi was also annoying as hell, but I think forcing myself to forget most of Johto suppressed some of that would-be rage.

May's evolved Pokémon.

NO FREAKIN' PERSONALITY ONCE THEY EVOLVED.

Combusken lost it's personality midway through Hoenn, and Blaziken was even blander. Same for Wurmple to Beautifly, Squirtle to Wartortle, Bulbasaur to Venusaur, and Eevee to Glaceon.
I now hate Blaziken, Wartortle, Glaceon, Venusaur and Beautifly(in the anime only)


Thank goodness for Munchlax and Skitty.

The vast majority of Pokemon in this show lose their personality when they evolve.

And Combusken had a lot of personality, it wasn't like Blaziken was.

I never had a problem with Piplup or Oshawott, the latter I actually like more thanks to the anime.

I remember when I was younger I was a bit annoyed by Charizard, but that's kind of faded away. I can't think of any Pokemon in recent years that I've disliked thanks to the anime, although I really don't like Snivy, but that was, I mentioned in another similar thread, thanks to all the goofy pre-release hype and "Smugleaf". Ash's Snivy is my least favorite of his current team, though.

I never disliked any pokemon particularly, though there were some notable examples which were rather annoying to me due to overexposure, killing their initial appeal. Like Dawn Piplup for example. Its not that i hated him, but constant hogging of screen time being showed down our throats started to be rather annoying and pointless never being good to exaggerate with something. Overuse of penguin also caused unfortunate consequence of some of Dawn pokemon not receiving adequate amount of development like Buneary, Pachirisu or even Mamoswine suffering from lack of focus which instead of being used more productively was wasted on someone which didnt gained in reality much from it.

Understandably it was to expect from mascot to be given lot of focus, but there is such thing as excessive use with writers exaggerating with it imo.

This is why i cant take such posts seriously. Togepi didn't drained anything with Misty still being quirky, flamboyant and vivid as character being equally interesting character both before and after getting Togepi. What, she became more mature later not being anymore so much hotheaded? That's called character development.

Its a tough question, as most of the time the Pokemon's personalities weren't too obscure for their kind. Having more screentime actually seems to help me like a certain Pokemon, even though I can see why most people say Piplup got in the way. I guess the only one on my mind is Excadrill, who I considered liking for a while but not really anymore. I never liked Scraggy, but that's just because of his whole thug design, not the anime's fault.

I hate the Potchama species and line because of the anime.

AND PICHUS. FREAKING PICHUS. ALL PICHUS. I USED TO LOVE THEM BUT SHOKO/GENERAL PICHU WHORING RUINED THEM SO HARD FOR ME.

@Fullbring; would you mind if your topic was also extended to include Pokémon in the Anime that weren't owned by a main character? It's a good topic, and I think there's definitely a greater chance for more discussion this way.

Togepi. All this build up to "what's in this egg???!!!" to just this stupid annoying thing that bawws all the time.

Hikari's Pochama got on my nerves a lot, too n__n It's voice in the dub especially ugh
