Lately, I've been playing Fire Red on my Nintendo DS. The light is a lot brighter, and it's easier on my eyes. I'm a little concerned, though, because of something that happened several years ago.

I used to play Crystal on my GBA, until I discovered that there was a crack along where the cartridge stuck out of the game slot. After that, my game didn't work properly anymore. I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen to my Fire Red cartridge.

Has anyone ever had that happen to them? Is there something I can do to prevent it from happening this time?

Nope, that's never happened to me, and I've never really heard of that happening either. Maybe the Crystal cartridge was faulty beforehand, or maybe something else happened to it to make it crack.

I play GBA games all the time in my DS (honestly, probably more than I play actual DS games on it), and I've had no major problems.

However, I will say that Emerald version has froze on me once while playing on the DS, which never happened before on the GBA. But other than that one incident, it's worked fine.

My Ruby cartridge mysterious cracked into five pieces, and it hasn't worked since.

Only the bottom that protects the slot thing broke off- probably explains why it doesn't work.

Actually, my LeafGreen version did used to freeze a few times a couple of years ago, but apart from that, I've never had a problem with a GBA game (or any game whatsoever, for that matter).

No. I still have my Pokemon LeafGreen for about 7 years and Its still in good condition.

After noticing how much my GBA games stick out on my DS lite, and worrying I might break a cartridge, I play my GBA games on my SP where they fit safely in the body of the system. That said, I have a really good SP. My original fell out of a sliding door while a car was BARELY moving, and the screen shattered, so I bought one of the revamped ones. That thing has a better lit screen than my DS, plus, I've played games on it for almost 10 years, so I'm much more used to it than my DS (which I got early 2010)
