Has the anime affected the way you view certain Pokémon?

^ Thread title.

For me, the anime made me like Kucheat (Mawile). Based on the Ruby/Sapphire sprites, I thought it was a pretty ugly pokemon who wasn't that interesting. Then I saw the Houen episode in which it appeared, and now I like the little guy.

Another one would be Charem (Medicham). The pokemon's appearance in those Contest episodes made me want to catch and raise one on my GBA games, when before I thought it was just another boring fighting type.

Satoshi's Yukiwarashi (Snorunt) made me want to raise one in my games as well.

The anime has also negatively affected my opinion of some of the creatures. The Deoxys movie made me lose all respect for Bashamo (Blaziken), and the Yanyanma (Yanma) episode confirmed my belief that it is the ugliest pokemon of all time.

So, what pokemon has the anime changed your opinion on?

Oh definitely.

It mostly has to do with the Pokemon the main characters capture. Since they're in many episodes, you can't help but start to like them.

Wobbufett's popularity really grew once Jessie had it. I don't remember Wobbufett being that well liked until it's debut in the anime.

Same goes for Chimecho, Corphish, Combusken, Lotad and many other Pokemon the gang has owned.

I also really love Seviper and Cacnea now. In the games I didn't really care for them, but with the anime the seem fresh. (They were great replacements for Arbok and Weezing)

I also think I like the Phanpy/Donphan line much more now because of the anime.

As for other Pokemon, Machamp and it's excellent battles in the anime got me to love it. Misdreavous and Glalie as well.

Well, I now can't stop thinking that Roselia is like, 3 feet tall.

But, I do agree that I like using the Pokémon the main characters have. I would have thought Chirean was ugly and lame if it weren't for the anime.

A bit... I now find Skitty positively adorable. ^_^

And Pikachu and Meowth, obviously, and I still picture Diglett and Dugtrio as important tree-planters with that chant... And Growlithe as police-associated. (I'm sure there are more, but it's late and I'm not good at seperating anime from game at this time of night...)

(And Porygon, due to a certain incident... I view it as able to shoot seizure-beams, I don't care if it was an explosion in Pikachu's eyes!)

Then again Koffing I view based on pokemopolis more than anything, and Tentacruel I view as a standard, perverted anime tentacle monster, despite no evidence whatsoever of the sort. XD

Oh absolutely. The anime has always had the knack for making certain Pokemon more appealing.

Obviously there's Pokemon I've liked right off the bat like Dunsparce or Mawile, but my love for Pokemon like Lickitung and Wobbuffet are rooted in the anime.Pokemon that have grown on me after their debut in the anime have been Farfetch'd,Politoed,Medicham,Breloom, and Grumpig.(just to name a few...)

But I have to say,it didn't hurt Medicham or Breloom to be in two of the best Pokemon episodes ever.I admit I'm a bit of an action junkie but I think that most episodes involving fighting types have been very good.Whether it be the early ones like "The Punchy Pokemon",or the recent AG episode involving Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.

Actually,I find that episode pretty much had the opposite effect on me.I didn't really care much about Yanma to begin with,but after that episode I began to like him.No idea why though... @_@;

As for the ugliest Pokemon of all time, that title goes to Snubbull.

Snubbull and Combusken. Those are the ugliest pokémon ever.

Well, yes. The anime certainly changed my point of view about certain Pokémon. I didn't care much for Wobbuffet before, but when it appeared in the anime I started liking it a lot. Phanpy looks cuter than its game counterpart and now I like it even more than I used to.

^That shoud be a topic itself.Since most tend to think that if you like Pokemon, you have to love Pikachu.I'm pretty much neutral on Pikachu but I do admit he has been pretty awsome in some battles. There's also the 'Kame-Hame-Thunderbolts' he shoots every now and then.

I just wish he'd learn how to use Flash so he can blind his opponents.

"Solar Flare!" XD

Those Kame-Hames must be Thunder.

I see Pikachu differently now. In the Anime it was overly cute and I was sickened by his appearence. :/

I never really had a fascination with Umbreon, Arcanine, Nidoking, Scizor until Gary Oak had them, since they went hand in hand with his character, which obviously I liked.

I've always liked Raichu because of Ash's battle with Lt.Surge, likewise with his battle with Brock which I thought Onix was always a boring pokémon until that battle.

I've never liked Misty's pokémon, and sometimes her nature as trainer reflects this (not really a big fan of Misty as a trainer so much, v.annoying in battle). Although I do often keep Starmie in for a sweeper for some of my battling teams.

Yeah I think Wobbeffut's never been liked until it appeared in the animé.

I remember everyone back in the days where only R/B were availible used to think Magmar was brilliant because of how fearsome it looked against Charizard in the animé, but then in comparison found it a bit of a let down in the games.

Actually, it was the anime that got me into it in the first place. I was flipping through the channels back in '99, and I see... Meowth. Being a talking-cat obsessed fifth grader at the time, I watched. I found out about two weeks later that TR's Meowth was a special one and the only Meowth that could talk (I thought all Meowth could talk at that point...), but I was hooked.

And the anime has also pretty much reinforced my view that Persian is a shameless ruination of a good thing.

Hmm... I think the anime has heightened my view of some Pokemon. I think I wouldn't have found Dustox, Snubbull, or a lot of other Pokemon useful. (Hey, I'm one of those girls that goes for cute things. ^_^). And I do see Blaziken's power, even though I think it's fugly. XD

As for lessening? I dunno... I don't have any games past Silver, so I got good introductions for most of them.

Some pokemon in the game look really bad or boring. In the anime they get new personality, new, prettier look and they get pluses in my eyes. Anime is much different (I'm not saying - better). I can see how they walk, how they act, what voice they have. I can meet the pokemon much closer. In the game I see only one little spirit and I must think about movesets, stats... not about personality. Even look isn't so important. But I must admit, some pokemon have worse look in the anime. I feel disappointed of Numel. In Ru/sa its a cute little awww... pokemon. In the anime its a big thing with a stupid voice.

It looks like opinions of
Marshtomp
are starting to change...
Mine certainly has. I hated it at first since the previous form was so much cuter, my opinion wavered a bit when I let mine evolve into one in Emerald, and now I really like it due to the recent episode.

I remember first seeing pikachu and meowth and bought the games so that I could catch them. I got pikachu, BUT never got meowth. I wanted my own little talking cat.

I finally got to catch one in Fire Red, and was ecsatic. I try to keep it in the team as much as possible.

The anime also made me love Seviper, Corphish(which I thought was a crappy looking thing), and reafirm my love for Dustox(even if it...doesn't ...do much). it also changed myopinion of treecko, whcih I never really liked before.

Manene I never had an opinion on when I first saw it. Then I saw some fanart of it and started to like it. Then I saw it on the series, and now I officially adore it.

I didn't care much for Heigani before I saw it in the animé. I had seen it in the game a few times, but never bothered to catch one since it didn't look very intseresing. But ever since Satoshi got one it's been one of my favorites. Satoshi's so funny and crazy, and as an added bonus he can kick ass too.

My opinion of Kucheat changed a lot. When I first saw it in the games I thought it was kinda ugly and not very interesting, but the one in the animé was cute.

Before Chiriin made its animé debut I thought it was just a strange novelty pokémon that wasn't particularly outstanding. Now I absolutely love the little guy.

And I didn't like Manene when I first saw it, but now I think it's alright. I'll need some more time before I can formulate a better opinion of it though.
