I mean, seriously!
How could we get any better pokemons than Plakia/Dialga/Arceus?

We already covered the generic themes!
Pokemons form other dimentions? Plakia!
Pokemons for the future? Dialga!
Giratina could have been an alternative, but it already exists and, furthermore, has been reveled as a creation of Arceus!

Arceus IS the original one, you can't get better!

So what can we expect from 5th generation games?

He's the original, but he's not God.

I can easily imagine an evil counterpart to Arceus, and maybe JESUS himself (jk).

In addition, there are also at least 40 dimensions in this universe alone. That leaves room for other cross-dimension Pokémon.

Anyways, we've already discussed this before in the lifespan of the Pokémon Franchise thread and others.

Ultradude, please don't spout pseudoscientific nonsense. There are three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension in this universe. If string theory turns out to be correct, there are additional dimensions hidden, but no more than 26.

And as for this thread, this discussion happens with every generation. And then lo and behold, a new generation comes out! There will be a fifth gen, a sixth gen, a seventh gen, and so on, for as long as Pokemon is profitable.

Aw shit, I was really about to type 26, but somehow this other thing popped in my head.

Crap, this has got to be one of the most embarrassing mistakes I've ever made on the Internet.

Realy? i've had more embaressing. i tried to tell a girl "ill kick her puppy" in a playful way... turned out alot worse

There's a lot more to Pokémon than legendaries, so I think when they get past a certain point, they'll stop trying to one-up the old legendaries. And if they try to make them more powerful, they could always retcon.

There will be a fifth generation as long as money is involved. Nintendo and GameFreak could care less about originality. The real question is when will we get the next generation games? I don't like going too far into this stuff, I would like to enjoy the current rather than not to enjoy it and spend that time being impatient for the next. When it comes, it comes. Whatever the next legendaries are, I'd like it to be a surprise.

I doubt they'll have an evil counterpart to Arceus though, it's a children's franchise.

It's a children's franchise, but that doesn't mean it's children friendly. It can be very dark, especially in the recent games.

I don't think we've reached the limits of Pokemon by any means. I just think that we've reached the limits of GF adding onto each generation in the same way. They can't just keep adding more pokemon, more legendaries, more moves, more areas, etc. Eventually, they'll have more new ideas that make each generation unique.

I should tell you...

I recently made a dream...
A dream about a completely new, different and DARK game.

You know, these "Your pokemon was holding an egg! Could somebody have deposited it here?"? You won't see these kind of lines in it.

But anyway, here is the dream, as far as I remembered it when I wrote it...
The first thing we see is the title screen. I can't remember how it looked like, but it was untidy, stressful, kind of a rough draft. Here is an exemple of what I mean.

So, you press start but, unless any pokemon game, it doesn't start with the prof talking to you. It doesn't even let choose your name/gender. It start with a First-person cut-scene (HURRAY!!)!

A member of the ennemy team is standing in front of you, with a weird, futuristic gun pointed at you. Don't worry, he won't kill you! The gun can only shoot TOTALLY SECURITAIRY electric beams! Sure, the guy doesn't looks happy, and, according you what he says, you caused a lot of trouble to them, but don't worry, you will stay alive. And you will LEARN...

The cut-scene ends, and only then, you're allowed to choose yuor name/gender.

You wake up (it was just a dream!) on the roof of a quite tall buiding, without any explaination of why you're there (I don't think this will have any importance later in the story. It was just in the dream!).It's winter, so there's snow everywhere, it's cold, and you probably got sick by sleeping in such places. The prof comes outand quickly make you inside, saying it's dangerous to stay outside.

He then realize that, even if you made up to be a teenager, you're still pretty ignorant of the world you're living in.

So he explain you everything.
You see, this world used to be an happy world created by pokemons, ruled by pokemons and inhabited by pokemons. And then came humans that started to establish links with pokemons, to make them learn things, to make them fight. And them came pokeballs, those cheap devices to capture and "store" pokemons that made pokemon training at the range of everybody.

But then...
Some trainers couldn't resist to the temptation to go and try to capture those legendairy rulers of the world.

At first, nothing really important happened. Capturing Zapdos or Moltres won't really change anything...

But still, the balance was upset!

And when this phenomen started to go over Shinnoh, where lies the beings of emotion, knowledge and willpower, along with the masters of time and space, and even the ULTIMATE POKEMON GOD, the world felt into CAHOS!!!

Pokeballs are since discontinued and illegals.
Owners of pokeballs have to destroy them, of else, the International Police shall "take care" of them.
Illegally manufacturing pokeballs is now passible of DEATH!

But what about illegal pokemons' possessors?
We can't do anything about them! They're too powerful!
To be able to defend yourself against agressions, the professor ask you to choose between the 8 (or 12, I can't remember of that) school of thought. This will determine your starter, but will also influence reactions of some people in the game, that shall accept to help you or not, depending of that factor.

I don't remember of any schools of thought, but the one I choosed. It offered Lucario (or maybe Riolu?) as starter. You were also able to change his color, which modified his stats. I only remember the Red Lucario had -12% in Speed, but +10% in Attack.

The dream ends here.

What do you think of that?

We'll continue to have legendary Pokemon based off evolution of Shinto myths and other Japanese mythology. Think- Tanuki, Yuki-Onna, Tengu, The White Serpent- And NOT stupid counterparts to Froslass, Zigzagoon, and Shiftry. They were a wast of myth origins.

Nuff said

We've only really seen one religion thus far in the Pokemon world. For all we know there could be thousands. All of which could have their own deities based on real powerful legendary Pokemon.

well they could just start over and have a pokémon like mewtwo. Who said that the "God" Pokémon have to be in the latest generation. They could just be in Gen 4

From what I understand, Tajiri-sama supposedly has created over a thousand Pokemon, so assuming that were true we're about halfway now

It's entirely possible that he made 1000, but it doesn't mean that they'll all be used.

It's possible that he created over 1000 concepts for Pokémon, but like anything in development, most of them might not have made it past the drawing board or even the concept stage.

There's also a rumor that says Sugimori doesn't want to design any more Pokemon.

Again, just a rumor, don't take it too seriously. That doesn't suggest the end of Pokemon though, they could always get another artist. However, if that rumor is true, then could it be because he's the new director of the next generation? Unless the rumor about the 1000 Pokemon is true, he could be promoted for all we know.

I know there will be a 5th gen, but why is there no evidence towards it yet? Remember all those pokemon that got revieled in the anime before that gen was even announced? Why hasn't it happened yet?

But other than that, there is no reason for it to be at its limit. Even if the trend suggests it, they don't have to go crazy trying to outdo the previous gen in legendary number and roles.

Every area of the real world has its own legends. Why should the pokemon world be any different in that regard?

And Zigzagoon isn't a tanuki. It's a raccoon. There's a pretty big difference.

The thousand Pokemon thing is old. Long story short it's an understatement. Pokemon aren't designed by any one person, they're a collective effort. A bunch of people pitch Pokemon and the group gives them the thumbs up/thumbs down. Tajiri has been reported to have pitched more than few hundred Pokemon himself per generation. Most of which are shot down.

They didn't do that right away though. They'll probably do it soon enough for the next gen. Also, they usually use pre-evos and evolutions of old pokemon for the advertising.
