Besides not having access to balls yet or having no balls, have you ever encountered one were you couldn't catch it? Like in the battle tower, against a trainer, or against a friend who loves to it in your face? For me, no. But what about you?

Twice. A Paras in the Safari Zone in Leafgreen, and a Raticate in the Safari Zone in SS.

Twice.
The first was a Electrike in Sapphire. I only had one Poke Ball and it didn't work.
The other was Geodude in Platinum. It used Selfdestruct on the first turn.

Three times.

First was a Zigzagoon. The first shiny I saw that wasn't the Red Gyarados. Just before this, I had wasted the entire contents of my Poké Ball bag trying to catch an ordinary Manectric (and failing). I had no Poké Balls. I had to run away.

Second was a Crawdaunt. In the Battle Tower.

Third was an Ekans. I can even tell you the date. March 8th, 2010. I was in the Johto Safari Zone. Need I say more?

Oh, yeah, there was one more. Ditto in Gold. I had ten Poké Balls on me at the time and wasted them all trying to catch it. Ultimately watched it Struggle itself to death.

With a mustache.

A Geodude in Crystal. Self-destruct.

Then in Gold I found a Tangela in front of Mt. Silver. It fled on the first turn.

Shiny Ghastly in the Pokemon Tower. Guess who had no balls since she was catching Cubone? And it was my favorite color too..

Luckily, I've caught the two shinies I've encountered...

The Poochyena that attacked Professor Birch in Sapphire. But yeah, I didn't have any Pokéballs then.

My little brother found a shiny Geodude; but had no Pokéballs on him at the time.

I found a shiny Beautifly but killed it with a critical hit, and had a shiny Graveler which self-destructed on me.

a shiny pidgeotto in SoulSilver. It used wirlwind on me.:banghead:

HeartGold. Safari Zone. Shiny Wooper. Me = :D. Threw a Safari Ball. Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle. Wooper broke free. Me =. Wooper fled. Me = ;__;.

I liked the color, too. It looked like a real axolotyl.

Once, I shiny chained a Roselia. When I finally encountered it...

I HAD FORGOT TO BUY POKEBALLS. NOOOOOOOO!

Fire Red, shiny Koffing. Selfdestruct. Left a wound on my heart. Right here (opens his chest to show). That day I promised to the world and myself that I will always save each game's respective Masterball in a case a shiny appears. I also promised that I if I ever see godess Fortuna, I will slaughter her like a bitch she is.

Actually, I have one moment. I'm at the Safari Zone in SoulSilver. Shiny Ditto. I threw a Safari Ball. It didn't shake once before it broke. The Ditto fled.

Me: ... WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

In Diamond version, I encountered a male Shiny Wooper at Level 22 more than four years ago in the Great Marsh. I chucked a ball, and the Wooper was not caught. The Wooper soon ran away after that.

I also [accidentally] KO'd a male Shiny Donphan at Level 45 near the back of the Silver Cave in my Silver version.
