Have you ever bought a console just for one game?

Also, I bought the Wii for the first Skylanders game (when I was still blinded by the hype). And the Wii U for Wind Waker HD.
 
The so-called "killer app", eh? Let me see...

- Game Boy and/or Super Game Boy: Pokemon Gen 1 (Red)
- Playstation 1: Spyro
- PS3: Okami rerelease, Sly Cooper 4
 
Nope, not at all. Get a console based on several games that will come out or are out.
 
I pretty much wanted a 3DS for the release of Pokemon games but the game that actually made me want one immediately was MK7. Quite a few people I knew were having fun playing it and I wanted to get in on that.
 
I bought my PS2 for Kingdom Hearts and to this day I only own four games on it
 
I used to do this so often it's not even funny.

-Prior to the DS I bought every Nintendo portable console just for the Pokémon series.
-I got a Nintendo 64 just for Pokémon Stadium, but I eventually got other games for it. (Mario Kart 64 came bundled with mine I think, and Super Smash Bros. had Pikachu in it sooo...)
-I got a Sega Dreamcast just for Sonic Adventure, and I'm pretty sure that was the only game I ever owned for the console. (I also some type of disc filled with demos as well, but I don't think that counts.)
-I got a Gamecube just to play Pokémon Colosseum, and to this day the only other Gamecube games I own are Luigi's Mansion (came bundled with the console when I first got it) and Spider-Man 2 (which I bought some time within the past year).
-I got a Wii near launch because I was anticipating a Colosseum-like Pokémon game, but when I found out it was only Pokémon Battle Revolution, I pretty much only had my Wii to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl or, occasionally, the bundled-in Wii Sports. (My Wii library only expanded within the last year.)
 
I got my PS Vita for Senran Kagura initially but I expanded my vita's library since then. And I plan on getting a Wii U just for Bayonetta 2.
 
I bought my DS lite solely for Pokemon pearl (but Super Mario 64 came as a pack-in bonus). My DS library didn't end up expanding much past Pokemon games.
 
The only reason I bought my PS4 at launch was because I knew Dragon Age Inquisition was releasing on it. There are other games I wanted but they aren't coming out for like a year.

Yep, pretty much same reason as you, I wanted a 3DS didn't matter which one, mainly for XY (I had pre ordered both games). Eventually my grandma got me a 3DS XL!
 
I bought my original Xbox solely for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - and it was totally worth it, too. :) Of course I got the sequel shortly afterward, as well as many other Xbox titles later on, but I doubtfully would have ever bought the console if it weren't for KotOR.

I also got my first handheld console, the Game Boy Color, because of Pokemon Blue.
 
Thinking of maybe buying the New 3DS just for Xenoblade Chronicles... Maybe.
 
I bought my 3DS mostly because I figured the next line of Pokemon games would probably be on it. Of course, this decision has allowed me to play a couple other games that I would've not been able to enjoy otherwise. No regrets there.
 
Well, I'm not saying that I got them for just one game; obviously I was planning on getting other games that I took interest in for the same system later. But getting a console because there was one game I really wanted at the time, yes, I've done it. DS for Nintendogs, Wii for Pokemon Battle Revolution, and 3DS for Nintendogs+Cats. All have been worth it.

If I could, I'd also get a Wii U for Mario/Luigi Bros. U, Mario 3D World, and Sonic Boom RoL, but alas I'm not in a situation where I can so I'll probably never play those games. :(
 
Pokemon X is still the only game I have for 3DS.

Also PS4 for Infamous Second Son, though that's not all anymore.
 
I bought my DS at first mainly for Pokemon. Since then I have expanded to games such as Project X Zone, Braverly Default, Super Smash Bros and of course other pokemon games.

I actually physically own all of the pokemon games since green! Unrelated to this topic but worth being proud of none the less :p
 
Yup. The PSP. I technically bought it for two games, but still, it was only two games. The least amount I have purchased for any console.
