Have you ever completed a game with less than a full team?

Aside from challenge runs, of course. I've never done it, but I feel I am dangerously close to doing so in my current run of Y.

There are always six Pokémon in my team but I mainly use the starter (and its evolutions) in battles during the story. The other five ones learn HMs in order to be able to fly, for instance. :)

Nope, never. ;D I always have a full team of six, no matter what I do. ;D But I never say never. ^^

It depends on what you mean by "full team", I guess. If you mean just having six Pokemon with you during the Champion battle, I usually do. If a "full team" means that all six Pokemon see frequent use and all are on an equal, strong level, then I've had more than one game where I've finished with an incomplete team. Usually, if I know the fight's going to be hard, I bring a couple extra Pokemon in addition to my main team to use as reviver shields. It's not often that all six are equally strong and useful.

I'm not really sure if going into the B/W Elite Four, beating them, and going all the way to the throne room to meet the dragon with only 5 Pokemon count, considering you're kind of forced to catch the dragon to continue the story. Hmm...

I normally go through a game with 4-5 Pokemon like what BlackOsprey said for instance, and have the other 1-2 as "reviver shields" or HM users. As of X and Y though, I use the EXP Share to help me have six strong Pokemon for the Pokemon League.

I usually train my 6 Pokémon evenly, and as of recent, I usually end up with at least 12 as my main rotation pool. The most record: My Pokémon Y had 24.

Almost Never. Can't do it without my full party A-team. If I remember correctly I was playing Ruby with my Sceptile through and beated all the E4 but I never beat Steven because his Pokemon are way to strong to be faced on single.

I did in Pearl, which was my first game, but never after that. I prefer a full team anyway. I wanted a full team in Pearl, but since I was a noob with no skills I wasn't able to properly manage 6 Pokemon. Hell, I only really manged 3 of the main 5. Then I just stuck on Palkia to beat Cynthia. I'll probably never do that again.

Half of the time when I go through the E4 and champ, although I have a full team of six one 'Mon isn't up to par in levels yet, so I'm effectively fighting with less than a full team. The Champ match back in Emerald? I didn't make it there without the full team, but it ultimately came down to just three of my 'Mons versus six of his, and I won. It was epic.

That's what I usually have to do, as well. I'd love to be able to have a full team of 6, but when otherwise weak/useless/outclassed moves like Flash, Cut, Strength, Whirlpool, Waterfall (pre-Gen 4), Rock Smash, and Dive are needed to get through the game... No way! I hate HMs.

I can't say that I have. I always want to have a full team, as well as reserves that I rotate within my team.

Almost. When I played Black, I ran with a five 'Mon team up until the seventh gym. The last spot was reserved for someone and it stayed that way until we were finally able to meet.

Well, technically I completed Black, Black 2 and X with only one Pokemon: I used my Golurk in each game to level the E4, as they were all almost at level 100 when I got to the League. No one else on my team was really necessary. (I do not kid when I say that my Golurk ends up over-leveled in every game I play. I depend upon that big lugnut.)

Wouldn't be a Silverwynde post without praising Golurk :p

Yeah, in my last play through of FireRed I ran through with a team consisting of: Charizard, Snorlax, and Dragonite. Using Dratini and Dragonair was a pain until level 55; after that it was a breeze.

At least 3 times:

FireRed, I was trying to beat it as quickly as possible so I could get the Legendary Beasts, and I used Charizard the entire time (except when certain field moves were required)

HeartGold, I had a team of five: Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Espeon, Ampharos, and Tyranitar. the six slot was usually reserved for an HM slave.

White 2, I had 4: Samurott, Arcanine, Sandslash, and Ampharos. The game was particularly difficult because of this.

I completed LeafGreen once with only a charizard, a butterfree, a raichu and a vaporeon before. And also a random bellsprout who did some HMs and the like. At this point I decided smaller teams were better, but that didn't stop me from using full ones in nearly all other games.

A particularly egregious example of this was my first playthrough of Black. For some reason, I caught barely anything. I took snivy as a starter, which turned out to be a good call; I doubt I'd have managed with either of the others. The first pokemon I caught was a purrloin next to Striaton City, I used panpour for the gym and dropped him afterwards, I caught a sandile at Castelia (so I had to beat Burgh with three pokemon weak to bug!) and so on. By the time I reached the end, I didn't have to swap Reshiram for anything because I only had a team of five anyway!
