The Tetris Effect is when you have been playing a video game so long that you start to see it or things related to it in real life. It has a Tvtropes page that explains more about it here.

So has anyone here ever had The Tetris Effect happen to them?

For me it happened when I first got Super Smash Bros Brawl and started to thing of how places in real life could be stages and think up move sets and final smashes for people that I knew.

Not sure if it counts, but when playing my GBC for extended periods and then stopped, I swore I could see the pixels of real life.

Fire Emblem (particularly Sacred Stones) while I'm playing chess.

God yes. When I pack any sort of bag I think of things as Tetris blocks anyway, but the fact that playing a lot makes it worse doesn't help - I end up literally imagining them as blocks. I could swear I've heard certain sounds from various Pokémon/Mario-related games when certain things happen in real life and I play The Sims series so much that every so often I simply expect someone to set the kitchen on fire/pee themselves/die somehow or get into some kind of fight with an enemy I didn't know they had when I leave a room. I also tend to hear the cycling theme from HeartGold when I ride my bike.

I do this all the time. I say stuff like, "If I make a Portal here and here I might be able to fling myself onto my loft." And I also swear I see the silhouette of the spy from Team Fortress 2 cloaking himself.

I constantly think about type advantages. As in, I'll see a tree and think "USE FIRE FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE" and so on and so forth.

yesterday, while walking through the park, me and my friend cam to a small wooded area with cotton wood wisps floating around. I started hearing the Kokiri forest music from legend of zelda, ocarina of time.

Sometimes, I vs. two people or animals in a Pokemon battle in my mind.

Yeah, it's happened to me with game music: I used to whistle the tour-guide theme when leading people places.
For some reason, when I started getting the hang of biking, the RSE credits music kept going through my head.

Yep. I sometimes have "Pokémon battles" that consist of Princess Peach (My pet lovebird, not the Mario princess!) versus a stuffed animal/ old Barbie doll/ whatever. . .

Yes, sometimes I "stack" blocks like actual tetris. Oh and when I was little I used to hear the pokemon 8-bit music in my head.

There was this one time were I had played Fallout 3 for 15 hours straight or maybe more (the clock in my bedroom was broken) and I went downstairs to get a drink.
my mum began talking to me and after she finished I stood there for 5 minutes waiting for the speech options to appear so I could select one

Play Tetris for an hour before you hit the hay. You WILL see the shapes on the back of your eyelids.

Actualy, I looked up Tetris effect on Wikipedia and it also inclueds dreams about the game you've been playing, which I had (Pokemon in my case).
It used to be that I dream of a 8-bit world (sort of like the GB and GBA Pokemon games) where I dream I'm playing the game, and I still sometimes have these dreams, but I also had DS game dreams where I dream I'm playing on the touch screen and a bunch of question-mark-filled circles and I whipe them up with the styler pen (sort of like the traps in the Underground in the Diamond Pearl and Platnum games, which make sense because I used to play in it a lot)

If it counts:
I constantly hum the Skyarrow Bridge theme when I cross a bridge.
Also, I SWEAR I saw a Wingull flying across the ocean.

Yes I have with many games, including the trope namer, Mega Man, and for some reason Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo.

3DS. I started seeing none-3D things as 3D. Putting food in the freezer is like Tetris to me.

Also, after I once played GoldenEye (Wii) for hours, I went outside and saw a guy wearing a russian coat. My first thought was "Gotta snipe that guy". I got slapped by my Mum once after playing Phoenix Wright for ages, because we were having an argument and I accidently shouted "OBJECTION!"

While not a video game example, but still in the trope, due to my studying A-Level English where I had to analyse everything, I will always analyse a bit of writing given to me.

Minecraft. You think you should press F to toggle fog distance when you feel it's necessary. You walk down the street wondering, "What texture pack is this?" You even think that creepers, skeletons, zombies, and spiders should spawn when you're in a dark room.

I don't know if it counts, but I like to imagine which Fire Emblem affinity would go best with my friends, or even random people, and which class.

Also somewhat related, whenever I spend a few hours on here, I tend to think in English afterward without noticing, even though it's not my first language.
