Hey all! It's me! We know there's many humans across the Pokémon world. And those humans have names, no duh.

However, we know some characters by only one name and rarely to do we get a full name. Granted that's probably because it usually isn't important information but still.
So, what headcanons do you guys have on Pokémon characters and their last names and full names?

ooooh i have a couple of these!!!

Grimsley i have a full legal name for which is Gabriel "Grimsley" Gore, with him going by Grimsley as an alias in young adulthood as the casinos he was frequenting at the time were a fair bit sketchy but he ended up liking Grimsley as a name more than his legal name

Burgh i call Burgh Maples due to me having a fankid for him that's an aspiring pokemon professor and i wanted her to fit the tree name pattern

The rest of my last names i have thanks to the help of the lovely @lisianthusakura who helped me find japanese last names for some of my favorite characters so large amounts of credit for these goes to her

Wallace and Lisia's last name is Tsugane coming from "harbor" and "song" for obvious connections with them as idols and Sootopolis being an island town

My full name for Morty is Mortis Toriyama due to the last name being connected to the chinese firebird and me having a headcanon of Morty being an edgy transgender teenager who thought it would be cool to name himself after a word for death

Lastly for Eusine i have Shimizu which means pure clear water or spring water for his associations with Suicune

Don't know if this is relevant, but I also give last and surnames to Pokemon that there are only one of. Usually I use the japanese or internal name, Dokutaro Pecharunt, for example.

i don't keep any particular last name headcanons but it feels relevant to the thread that a while back some friends and i passed around the idea that Dot's full name is actually Dorothy. which is not a name dot would ever want to go by in her entire life but dot is a known shorthand nickname for dorothy and i would not put it past Blanca at all to name dot dorothy. so this is a headcanon i've kept ever since that fateful conversation from like, last year LOL even though dot doesn't actually use the name for anything because.. uhhh she'd hate that

this is awesome by the way. all your headcanons are but i love this one in particular LOL

edit: fixed a typo

And if we called her Dottie, what would happen?

Whoaaaaaaaaaa. A lotta names here.
You have the idea to including the Japanese names into their full names. I have a similar headcanon as well where the JP names for the Gen 1-4 characters are their real names/their names in traditional Kantonian/Johtonian/Hoennian/Sinnohian languages and the English names are just nicknames.

Also, holy hell, try putting Giovanni's name on a birth certificate lol

Real life has it beat: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. :p

Natsume "Sabrina" Jujukovsky.
Yes, I hc Sabrina is partially Russian.
…You know, I could see that. I'd be very surprised if the Poké!USSR isn't up to some supernatural bullshit in some closed town somewhere.

Lt. Maj. Robert “Surge” Mattis.

Ms. Tsutsuji "Roxanne" Giada Petra.
As a teacher/tutor/honor student at the trainer school, she's often addressed as just "Ms. Roxanne" or "Ms. Petra." In the traditional Hoennian/Japanese language, she would be addressed as "Tsutsuji-Sensei."

Actually no, his bachelor name is Abdul Kaba Birch. (Abdul from his Spanish canon name, Prof. Abedul.)

Asuna Flannahbrha "Flannery" Boyle.

Yeah, I think I agree with the idea of Flannery being Irish. Also, Boyle. Like "Boil" because she likes to hang out in hot water.
(I like punny names)
Flannabhra is the spelling; it means “blood-red eyebrows”. :R:

Also, Boyle is an Irish (and Scottish) name, too! :D Maybe Kabu's surname is Boyle :hmm:

Antão is really cute sounding...

Antão does sound cute and is the Portugese equivalent to Anthony. So basically, you're saying Bugsy's name is Anthony "Bugsy" Tsukushi. Oh, and Antão also has ANT in it.

Funnily enough, Bugsy's Spanish name, Anton, goes for a similar approach. Anton. Antão. Anthony.

This boy is doomed to be named after a bug lol

Roxana "Roxie" Richter Venosa.
Roxie is just a nickname or stage name, a shortening of her real name Roxana. Richter is German for judge or ruler. Venosa from venom and hiedra venenosa (Poison Ivy).
Put it together, you'd probably get the idea of Roxana's the ruler of poison and rock!
