As I've been playing the game, I've noticed a few new bits of texts and such that aren't ever given a straight answer in the game and are, as is tradition in Pokemon games, open ended mysteries.

Here's some I have found, feel free to post yours.

* Maximo, the M.C. of the Pokeathalon, mentions that he is a twin. It's never said who his twin is but, given his design (a white tank-top and black hair), I believe he is related to Fire Red and Leaf Green's Teachy TV Host.

* Speaking of the Pokeathalon, the legend behind it telling of a story consisting of a trainer and three Pokemon going through multiple events to find a cure for a disease. Future game legendary trio, or mere back story fluff? Also, Magnus. The dude interests me for some reason, especially after that stare down his Poliwrath gives you. I hear you get to meet him at one point after clearing events...anyone does this yet?

* Don't recall this in the original, but in the Slowpoke Well one Slowpoke has a letter addressed to what is presumably Kurt's daughter. This doesn't seemed to be mentioned anywhere else in the game, so I'm wonder why the Slowpoke had it and what happened to Kurt's son. Is he someone we know?

* Still a mystery sort of, but I was hoping they'd shed light on who Falkner's father is. It's probably not a major thing though.

So any other "mysteries" or easter eggs you guys have discovered yet?

You mean the Poké Dude (Onii-san in the Japanese versions)? If so, then he actually appears in HeartGold and SoulSilver as well; he's the reporter inside Violet City's Pokémon Center who can give you a Pokémon Egg from up to three different species if you share your feedback with him.

I was wondering if anyone could fill me in about the 'broken radio' behind the left side of Tohjo Falls. No hidden items of any sort, just a bunch of cracked boulders and an abandoned broken radio.

Looks kind of like a bum's hideaway if you ask me.

It kinda gave me a 'bum's hideout' vibe.

It's Giovanni's room.

I thought that room was inaccesible outside the Celebi event.

Maybe not a mystery but a nice way to handle a retcon is when you get to Goldenrod City and there's a guy in the PokéCenter wondering how many Pokémon are there in existence. In the original he says something like "three years ago Prof. Oak said there were 150, but now new species have been discovered". In the remakes, it's "A long tine ago, Professir Oak said there were 150 different kinds... Since then, many new Pokémon have been discovered in different regions. There are almost 500 different kinds know now..."; making the date of the claim more vague is the best way they could handle it: this way they could retain the reference to the original 150 but since it's not 3 years ago, it means that it would have been said before the events of FRLG, thus not contradicting those remakes which features the 386 Pokémon known then. Plus, the "in different regions" bit justifies perfectly why they replaced the "New Pokédex" with a proper Johto Dex.

That was by far the most meta, 4th-wall-ish comment made by an NPC up to that point in the games.

What do you have to tell him to get an egg? I just gave him some bullcrap answers, so it figures I didn't get anything...

You can figure out the phrase here. It doesn't mention the eggs on the front page, I think, but when you enter the info asked with HG/SS selected it gives the phrases for the eggs as well.

...It does seem however, that the phrases for the english version on HG/SS aren't up yet... at least there.

4th wall is smashed to pieces by EVERYONE in the National Park actually. They keep talking about their pokéwalkers. xD

I imagine that the in-universe Pokewalker is like, some kind of holder for a Pokeball that lets the Pokemon get exercise and practice while snapped into it.

That Slowpoke was the original with a letter. Kurt's son/Mazie's father has not elaborated on at all, aside from that letter, and I believe the daughter says she misses her father at one point. Falkner's father is the same, and none of the Pokemon canons have expanded on either.

Since it's a time travel event, the likely scenario is that you've already been there and defeated Giovanni. It simply hasn't happened in your personal timeframe yet.

That's it, exactly. After you do the event and examine the radio, the script changes from "just a broken radio" to "Giovanni's radio".

Speak with Mr. Pokemon after the big Legendary event occurs in your game pak.

He spins.

He just introduces you to a hall of fame with golden statues of you and 3 of your pkmn. I don't know what he tells you, cuz mine's an import, so, sorry...

That's awesome... I love time travel stuff, and having it in a Pokemon game is all kinds of cool.

The only thing I'd have done differently in the Celebi event was have you witness Red go by on his way to the Elite 4 after witnessing the thing between Giovanni and his son on Route 22.

I don't think so... I think the event goes like this>

You see Silver/Giovanni's little "argument" three years in the past.
The you go three years into the future and see (and battle) Giovanni in the mountain.

So, ether, you battle Giovanni in the present time (as in, you go forward three years from the Silver/Gio thing), or you battle him three years into the future from the present time. So, likely, when you find the broken radio, Giovanni's probably just not there/gone out to find food or train more, rather than "you've battled him already and he left and stuff".

That... wouldn't have had any baring on the plot- it would be interesting to say but, yeah. Giovanni and Silver's argument gives them both more of a backstory, and the Giovanni battle shows/explains where he's been hiding out for the past few years.

Except what Paperfairy said about how the line changes from "just a broken radio" to "Giovanni's radio" once the event is complete, indicates it is some kind of paradox. When you're in Giovanni's hideout during the event, his radio is working (the whole point is that he's listening to Team Rocket's broadcast). But apparently it's broken if you examine it prior to actually completing the event. That would indicate your battle with Giovanni has already happened, back when the radio was working (during the Team Rocket takeover of the Radio Station).

I never said it had anything to do with the overall plot... but not everything needs to. It would've just been a nice little added touch to the event... an homage to the old games. Plus it's not like it would've been that unlikely... Red must've been along that path shortly after Giovanni and the kid left.
