http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=417532 (sans GBP tracks, very nice naming conventions, and has an original GSC rip for GBP comparison purposes)

http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?t=69410 (ENTIRE soundtrack, untagged)

http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1328070&postcount=120 (.bat file for renaming, but its not exactly awesomesauce)

For the record, a lot (most) of the GBP tracks are NOT the original versions, but 8bit versions created for HGSS... they really worked their ass off for this game.

EDIT: I can really safely say that none of the GBP are direct rips. They were created for HGSS. That means 286 hours worth of composing, as well as 493+formes overworld sprites.... artwise alone, that's more than any other game has given us. I am mega impressed.

And the PokeWalker sync music makes reference to the GameBoy Printer. :)

ALSO Route 201 has remixed HGSS music... please explain~?

I find the Kanto Wild Battle theme to be the best remix. I mean, listen to it! Its pwnsome. Oh yeah, and ofcourse the Lance/Red Battle Theme.

I'd love a pack made ONLY of GB Player tracks.

That's cause I downloaded Wulava's pack earlier and I don't want to download the ENTIRE soundtrack again.

I skipped right to the Ecruteak theme, because that's what I was looking forward to the most. Spectacular. I approve 100%.

I actually don't like the gym theme that much, which is disappointing because that was one of my favorite pieces before. I don't like how they added that rock-ish drum beat.

I think some remixes are decent, but most of them are too soft and don't even sound like the cool 8-bits from GSC (Route 42/Lake of Rage, for example).

I've had the music for some time, and here are some general opinions.

1) They did a MUCH better job with this than they did with FRLG. FRLG's music was just terrible compared to RBY, but HGSS is respectable compared to GSC.

2) The new pieces are generally incredible, especially the Ho-oh battle theme and the Pokethlon themes. The variant themes for the legendary beasts are all great - I like Entei's best.

3) Sadly, it's not all perfect. Goldenrod and Dark Cave came out significantly worse for the wear. These make me wish that the GB Player was available much earlier (like, at the beginning of the game >.>). Also, some of the new Kanto city themes are pretty meh - though I'll admit it's a positive that 4 Kanto cities don't all have the same theme.

4) And the worst for last - man, did they rape the Kanto Gym Leader theme. It used to be such a simple, powerful theme, and now it's cartoony and silly, like it's from FRLG. :[ Admittedly, the GBP *does* work here, but it seems kinda silly to listen to 8-bit music while watching a 32-bit battle x) Oh well.

I generally dislike topics like this as it's just a breeding ground for "I DON'T LIKE WHAT THEY DID SO I THINK THEY RAPED IT".

How do you compare changing a song to rape? Lol.

Anyway, almost all the new music is far better than the original save for a few but eh I didn't like those few much in the originals so it doesn't bother me now.

The Kanto Gym battle sounds almost like the Pokemon Stadium 2 variant so I like it.
:U

From what I've heard, you need all sixteen badges in order to receive the GB Player.

What's interesting is hear the Jouto theme's as they were originally intended.

You can't do much musically on a Gameboy, so it very weird comparing what could be done, VS what was intended.

Dark Cave is 9,000 kinds of awesome; Goldenrod City and the Bicycle theme (which are my favorite Pokemon songs EVAR and quite fun to play on the piano) ...I don't like themas much as I used to, I prefer the GSC versions.

Sadly, though, the Johto themes don't sound like they did on the Game Boy. They don't use the GSC instruments or anything - they merely use the Game Boy's internal instruments, so the music sounds a bit like it's from Red and Blue. Also, the echo effect is horrible.

Also, am I the only one who loves the new Goldenrod theme? :p

That one and Route 11 from Gen I are actually my favorite Pokémon songs ever. And in both cases I like better the originals (RBY and GSC respectively.), so I agree with you in a way, but still their new mixes sound great.

About the rest of the soundtrack, I think it's the best Pokémon music ever released, I loved all of those songs. Violet and Ecruteak City, as well as the battle tunes are maybe my favorites.

So the GB player's content is made of new 8-Bit versions of the new tunes instead of the originals? I wonder why would that be... anybody knows the reason??

Not really.

If it existed before, it uses the old music from the GBC.
If it didn't, like Route 47 or Cinnabar, it's the new music made into GBC style.

The music is very similar to the old GBC music, but it doesn't use any of the special instruments that GSC used. For example, instead of 8-bit guitars being used in Route 26/27, you simply hear beeps like in other Game Boy games such as Red/Blue.

Hey, I like a lot of FRLG's music. The trainer battle theme remix is one of my all-time faves!
