I just wanted to compile a list of what all the Stores are doing for the pre-release and release events for HeartGold and SoulSilver. I am also trying to figure out what some other places are doing too. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

So far this is what I know:

Toys 'R Us is having an official Pokemon representative come to the stores from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a Nintendo DSi and a copy of one of the two versions for people to try out. There are going be free items such as paper Pikachu hats, HGSS stickers (Lugia, Ho-Oh, the starters), and colouring pages (Lugia, Ho-Oh). Also, there are going to be HeartGold and SoulSilver shirts given away to the first 50 people. In addition, there will two game case holders, HGSS themed cleaning cloth, and two DS stylus featuring Lugia and Ho-Oh given out (See picture below) for each game purchase, but will also be sold for $10.00 without a game purchase. Finally, the pre-order figurines will be given away.

Along with the games, Wal-Mart is going to be giving a PokeWalker cover and black hand strap with Ho-Oh (HeartGold version) or Lugia (SoulSilver version) on the rear. They will also have the pre-order figurines of Ho-Oh (HeartGold Version) or Lugia (SoulSilver version).

At Gamestop, from what I have seen on their website is that they are going to Open Early and are giving the Pre-Order figurines away. As usual, they are giving Lugia figurines to those who purchase Pokemon SoulSilver version and Ho-Oh figurines away to those who purchase Pokemon HeartGold Version.

That's all that I know, does anyone else know of anymore or any addition to what I have?

Thanks!

Wow!
I like the first one from toys r us
I've pre ordered it from Play-Asia and I hope they get it from Toys R Us!!

So, all of this stuff comes free just for buying the game?

I wasn't planning on buying these games for a while, but now I've changed my mind and didn't get a chance to pre-order. Now I'm unsure where I should go to buy the game...

I want the skins and the figurines, which is strange for me seeing as I never really liked this kind of stuff. I still have an un-opened Dialga stylus and Giratina figurine from when I pre-orded them... Also, I think the skins come with all the games. In this unboxing video you can see the skin with the pokewalker at 1:27. Thhe guy didn't pre-order from anyplace, just saw that some store had it early and bought it.

if i knew there werent going to be a million small children at toys r us for the demo thing i would go to get the free shirt xD

I got the japanese version and that is not a skin,

i belive the thing which you are refering to is the alternate back of the pokewalker one with a clip, and one without

the one without is the one the pokewalker is packaged with on you have to unscrew it to put on the one with the clip

Surprisingly, Nintendo of Canada has apparently organized two launch events up here. I got an e-mail about it this morning.

There's one for Toronto, and another for Montreal. Despite being in Toronto myself, I don't think I'll be going. It's being held in some kind of indoor amusement park for children, and given that this is the first weekend of March Break it's very likely to be insanely busy. If there were a chance to win some kind of limited edition Hg/Ss-themed DSi I might venture out, but no such DSi has even been released in Japan... can't see one coming here before there.

Regarding Toys R US: Does anyone have a list of which stores are going to be doing this? I'm having trouble finding this...

i know that on the website there should be something to find one near you that is hosting an event, it seems like a lot are, just check the site out

All of the Toys 'R Us locations that are participating in the release can be found here.

Thank you.

Also, I found more on the Toys R Us event:

"You’ll also get a special edition Toys R Us gift card worth $5 that features Ho-Oh and Lugia. As with other stores, buyers will receive the Ho-Oh or Lugia figurines with each purchase of the Pokemon’s respective games. For some of the items above, supplies are limited, so be sure to arrive early!

Additionally, if you buy a Nintendo DSi, HeartGold or SoulSilver, and a Pokemon Essentials Kit, you will receive a free $20 gift card. However, it’ll be a regular gift card. If you buy one of the games and a walkthrough guide, you’ll also save 20% on the guide."

Seriously? Well that kinda sucks, I was looking forward to getting the skins. It's not that big of a deal, I guess...

I regret ordering from Gametop now. xD;;
I'm also stoked Colonial Heights, VA will be doing this. I might run up there tommorrow to pre-order heartgold, since I ordered soul silver from gamestop. Hopefully they'll be able to hold it for me though, since I won't have enough money for both.

Oh sweet. o:
So I'll head over to GameStop to pick up SoulSilver and then head to ToysRUS to just check it out. I'm so glad mine is doing it. 8D

I'm getting it from Gamestop, but those other giveaways look pretty awesome!

I saw this my local newspaper for the one in Toronto. I was like "lol, i'm not going because I'll be the only teenager there!" Nintendo of Canada should really think over on where to put the location of an event like this.

I hope the Toys R Us dosen't get 49 people before me. I think you still get free stuff even if you aren't though.

No, those are skins that go onto the PokeWalker itself. Just to clear things up the skin is completely separate from the PokeWalker device itself.
