HeartGold & SoulSilver should have Moss Rock & Ice Rock

I am surprised that HeartGold & SoulSilver did not include areas to evolve Eevee, Magneton & Nosepass.

Ilex Forest and Viridian Forest would have been ideal to include the Moss Rock in order to evolve Eevee into Leafeon.

Ice Path would have been ideal to include the Ice Rock in order to evolve Eevee into Glaceon.

Mt Silver would have been the perfect place to evolve Magneton into Magnezone and Nosepass into Probopass.

who else agrees with this thread

i know i agree, even tho i never bothered evolving my pokes in Platinum. But perhaps it was because these places were special and unique to sinnoh. if Johto all of a sudden had these features, it would be a bit out of place and bring up the question, why couldn't these evolutions been accessible before? And it would have debunked Sinnoh's "discoveries" i suppose.

Yes, this makes sense.

It also might have to do with the fact Game Freak may have wanted to stay true to Gold and Silver.

Route 4 didn't have meteorites in GSC. Silph Co. didn't have an elevator that led to a room with special appliances in GSC.

The fact they bothered to add ways to change Deoxys' Formes, and even Rotom's Forms, not to mention a way to evolve Feebas even, and yet, they failed to put the even easier, even more obvious, methods to evolve Eevee into new forms and Magneton and Nosepass... a terrible oversight. I don't see what benefit would there be to keep those Pokémon obtainable only in DPPt. It just adds unnecessary constraints.

I agree with this post. One of many things that should've been in HGSS, but weren't. lol

I was a little disappointed myself when I found out I couldn't get the new eeveelutions or Magnezone unless I trade with my sis (she owns Platinum).

At the same time, however, I'm glad my game has a better menu/user interface that makes actual use of the touch screen, that daunting tasks such as boosting happiness to evolve was made MUCH easier with the Pokewalker. I say HG/SS is more or less a double-sided coin.

While it makes sense, I think there might have been some higher up meddling done.

See, if you want these four pokemon, you need to buy the sinnoh games as well. With Rotom, his formes were only for platinum and I don't believe tradeable, so they had to work around that. I'm not quite certain about Deoxys and why that happened though.

I would have preferred it. I even made mock images of the old ice path and ilex forest and showed where the rocks could be located, but we didn't get them. As for Mt. Silver... eh, I suppooose that could have been used, but there really is nothing that says Mt. Silver is more than any other mountain. I mean, I know that the DPPt games don't label Mt. Coronet as magnetic, but it plays a huge role in Sinnoh and houses three legends in it. Mt. Silver is a bonus dungeon with two bonus bosses in it.

The power plant would have worked better I think.

On the Ice and Moss Rocks...

The places we're recommending on putting them is in Johto. Ilex Forest and Ice Path are both in Johto. You get Eevee before you get the national dex.

Leafeon and Glaceon are both 4th gen pokemon and so wouldn't be available before the national dex UNLESS you traded. It wouldn't make sense to have it possible for them to evolve in game before the national dex.

Yes, the Moss rock could have been placed in Viridian Forest. (Dunno about the Ice Rock).

But at the same time, Game Freak IS a company. Are they going to have an Arceus event for us? You'll also note that the Sinnoh starters aren't available in game. This is because they want us to have to go and buy the other games. Why does HG have a Growlithe and SS doesn't? So you buy the other game. (or just trade).

In the end, I think it's to prevent the player from obtaining a pokemon outside the Johto-dex before getting the National dex without trading and also to make money.

I agree with this one; when HG/SS were still in development, I thought the Moss and Ice Rocks would be in there. Turns out I was wrong. At least I can trade from D/P/Pt.

Yanmega, Mamoswine, Tangrowth, Lickilicki, Ambipom.

They could have made a "Moss Stone" and "Ice Stone" equippable, non-tradeable items that evolve Eevee when it levels up while holding one. One-time use fragments of the Moss and Ice Rocks, imported from Sinnoh. Simple solution.

Well, with the internet and everything, it really isn't that difficult to arrange for somebody to evolve one for you, even if you don't have a means of trading between your own games.
