According to Bulbapedia (and logic) HeartGold and SoulSilver are sequels to FireRed and LeafGreen as Gold and Silver were sequels to Red and Green (or Blue, depending on how you look at it).

Therefore, if the Time Capsule in G/S could trade with R/G/B, then if HGSS were to carry that tradition, it would be able to trade with FRLG. Personally, I think it will

  1. Have the DS's wireless functions communicate with the GBA Wireless Adapter
  2. Remove the feature overall, as Wireless Adapters in general may interrupt wireless signals emitted from a DS
  3. Maybe act like Pal Park, insert a GBA cart into the slot and you can trade from there, with the exception that you can transfer only Pokemon #001-386, like G/S.

Considering these choices, I would think 3 is the least likely, as it would pose a big problem with DSi users. But, you never know.

So... How do you think it will work out?

It won't. I doubt they would put the time capsule in. Pal Park or something and thats it. The time capsule was only there as a gimmick to show it was the sequel to the original games. But now that its being pointed out and will very likely be pointed out in the game I don't think so. And anyway if anything no gba connection will be done. The gba and SP might still be selling(yep you hear right Nintendo sold over 10000 gba's last month) but hell they want it dead.

Aren't the GBA wireless adapters incompatible with the DS?

Anyway, Im sure the TimeCapsule will not be utilized. With things like Pal Park, there isn't any need.

They'll simply replace the 'Time Capsule' with the Pal Park. Maybe they won't call it that, but it'll fulfill the same purpose.

Also, I don't know why people are still buying GBAs when you can play the games on the DS/Lite. :/

Time Capsule is probably just going to be something like "Pal Park". There's no need for the Time Capsule since we don't have a DS equivalent to old Kanto.

Because you can't play GBC games on the DS/Lite.

I think that you will be able to download old Gameboy advance games offline and transfer them over using the timemachine.

There will be no time capsule. It was there to show the time difference in origial games and GSC. It will be replaced by GTS and there might be a pal park (not confirmed yet either way)

With the current WiFi capabilities, I'd rather see something like this NOT be included.

I get the feeling the Time Capsule is getting trashed. Bill won't be happy but whatever. GF will have some other crazy device thing for him to build. I've only seen one person ever use the Capsule and that was last week.

I really hope for #3. Mostly because I don't have a GBA to do #1, and it would be nice to be able to send pokemon back if I needed them.

I highly doubt #1, they never incorporated it into DPPt, why would they wait now when it's been years since the GBA died.

Maybe another PalPark, but I would rather GF focus more on new features.

I agree, but they could still have a Pal Park and focus on new features, I mean is is really time to give up Pal Park for good since many still own a DS Lite and GBA pokemon game and the games can still be played on those systems? Plus Platinum still has a Pal Park, but still not everyone's going to own a DSi just yet

Chances are that they will include both, but since it was already introduced in DP, I don't think it should have much significance in HGSS.

Why is it that you people can't seem to comprehend the ability that they can do both Pal Park and some new DSi-exclusive features?

Here's what I think should be done:
  • DPPt can transfer Pokémon forward through Pal Park, but not back.
  • HGSS should utilize a Time Capsule which can transfer Pokémon back to the GBA games, provided that those Pokémon are numbered 001 to 386 and are marked as having originated in Kanto, Hoenn, or Distant Land.
I realize this is highly unlikely and/or impossible for multiple reasons:
  • Hardware/software limitations.
  • The GBA has been outmoded, therefore, backward transfers would be pointless.
So, in all likelihood, this system will never come to pass. But, hey, I can dream, can't I?

One major flaw of your GBA theory is that the pokemon would have new moves, IVs and other things that the GBA games don't have, so you couldn't transfer a pokemon back to those games, and besides there is no other way to transfer a pokemon to GBA games than trading. To do what your saying, the GBA games would need new data for pokemon IVs, moves and locations where they are found and more.

As you said, pointless to transfer to GBA games, I don't think because of all I said, it could be done.

IVs in DPPt are identical to IVs in RSEFRLG. If they were incompatible, Pal Park wouldn't be there in the first place. I really don't think they're going to make an IV change in HGSS, since that'd cut off all trading (and it's in the same generation as GenIV, no need to make huge mechanic changes like that).

The Time Capsule in GSC (from what I've read) didn't allow you to bring in Pokémon with new moves.. so if they do something like that in HGSS, they would add in the same restriction.

Location.. I think it'd just show up as "Met in a link trade" like it usually does in RSEFRLG.

What would be the point of transfering them to DPPt, only to send them back to RSEFRLG?
