The official website has announced that, alongside the upcoming special episodes, the main character from Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light will be appearing in the main anime in the episode set to air March 18th (presumably right after Nagisa Gym).

As well as the main character from ToL appearing, the episode will also mark the first appearance of Heatran in the main series.

Sounds cool! Heatran in the main series is what I've been wanting to see! 8D But quick question, what does ToL stand for? and who are those main characters?

ToL = Tracks of Light, and I'm guessing that it'll either be the male or female player character starring.

I suddenly like Heatran due to the fact I got him in a PokéCandy Ball, so yeah, I'm kind of happy about this. Heatran's animé appearance is something I've been looking forward to for a while, just because he's an awesome Pokémon. And with a possible banjo playing Pichu, too? I'm going to enjoy this one.

I'm with Blackjack Palazzo on this one, bring on the beloved lava toad! >:3

and the anticipation of a Stark Mountain plot,
It's fairly obvious that there won't be a Stark Mountain plot. If the writers wanted to have one, Dawn's Grand Festival would be held in the Ribbon Syndicate, and this episode would take place in Stark Mountain on the way to the Grand Festival. Your best bet is for Charon to still make an appearance here as J did in the last Ranger two-parter.

Love how everyone ignores the fact that the "Ranger 3 main character" has a name and it's Natsuya...

He's more than a random CoTD, so what about calling him by proper name?

Ahh, but the real question is, why should we care about goggle boy when we've got Heatran to admire? Heatran man...Heatran. He's gonna eat some dirt and climb some walls. You'll wish you'd ran when he brings on the heat! Nuts-to-ya, ranger dude!

No lava toads living in the deeps of Earth are cool without Eggman voiced odd hairstyled Poképhile old scientists.

Therefore, Heatran's debut epic fails.

You're kidding me, right? We have around seven months before we'd have to concern ourselves with a new region, and that gives plenty of time for a subplot that would take a maximum of three episodes to conclude.

...hmm? Whazzat? Oh! Oh, I'm sorry. I was too distracted by his goggles, ascot, and sporty short-shorts.

If I was Heatran, I'd Heatrun the hell away as fast as I could.

I think it's kinda ridiculous that everyone's mocking Natsuya solely based on his uniform, which seems like a feasible uniform to wear while patrolling islands, and his goggles, which are perfectly feasible for him to wear while flying through the sky at top speeds. Just saying.

I'm personally excited to see Natsuya, though (and I say this often) I am still sad that Lunick and Kate have not made appearances yet while their counterparts have. Maybe Minami will also make a debut. That would make me happy.

They're not going to the Battle Zone island just to give Charon and Buck screentime; there would have to be another reason. Moreover, a two-parter showcasing Heatran is already giving it one more episode than Dialga and Palkia got, let alone Cresselia who doesn't even have a movie appearance under its belt. Another two-parter within six months of the first one would be overkill and uninteresting to most viewers.

In short, if the a Stark Mountain plot were on the agenda, either Dawn's Grand Festival would be on the Battle Zone island to accommodate that, or this Ranger special would be about the upcoming Sky Forme mission as opposed to the Heatran one. I think that it is much more possible that Charon will be incorporated into this episode, and that certainly isn't guaranteed to happen, either.

Then they could put Stark Mountain somewhere else. Not like they haven't moved around locations before. Seafoam, for instance. But either way, there's plenty of time to go up to the island. This isn't exactly a show that doesn't have room to spare.

Then why aren't you suggesting that for these two episodes?

But either way, there's plenty of time to go up to the island. This isn't exactly a show that doesn't have room to spare.
But for what purpose would they go there? Why is it even important that Heatran be the focus of more than two episodes this year, which is the kind of privilege that no Pokémon has ever had?

Hey now, I'm not mocking him, I'm mocking his clothes!

But you're right. Let's be honest. ALL the ranger Do-Gooders look like their having a fashion faux pas.

Just give it a try, it's fun to mess around!

And y'know, Heatran really reminds me of Killer Croc from Batman fame.

Good catch !

This episode looks ok-ish... I liked the Riolu ranger episodes but my likning them didn't have anything to do with the rangers themselves whom I found sorta blah. Riolu, Hunter J, Ash & Dawn were what made those ep interesting, more than what's-his-face and what's-her-name ?

Heatran himself... I really wasn't mindblown by his appearance in movie 12 (Was I the only one who imagined it much much bigger?) and if they can redeem this pokemon, I'm all for it.

Also, on the OMG how can they do an episode without Buck and Stark mountain in it debate... When it came to the stat trainers appearance in the anime, the writers didn't follow in game scripts for them...

Game Cheryl wanted protection from TG, while Anime Cheryl wants Honey. Game Mira got lost in a cave while anime Mira wants to dive to find a sandshrew. The Iron Island plot with Riley was also different in the games and the anime... So Buck doesn't have to be involved in an Heatran or Stark Mountain plot to make an appearance in the anime... Plus ToL promotion edges out Dp promotion...

I'll watch the ep and I'll probably like it (like I do almost every ep that doesn't revolve around a Bibarel or Pokethelon) but so far, I'm unenthused.

This isn't even an "episode". It's like saying that Dusknoir didn't have to be in the summer school episode because it was in Mystery Dungeon.

What?... MD is not a regular episode that's included in the actual season (which is also why some other countries will never get it)
The two episodes that this thread is about are regular episodes of the DP series (which most likely will get included in season 13) and these two eps are no different than the Riolu eps
Why would we NOT count these two eps? would you say the Riolu eps don't count either and Riolu still needs to appear?...

If they don't make these two eps Stark Mountain or showcase Charon somehow, then we better give up on this idea
I agree with Unown Lord that it'll be stupid to make another Heatran ep after a few months just for the sake of showcasing that game event
If they want to do it, they should do it now... especially since this is right after Flint's ep so it makes sense to showcase Buck now
I don't really care if they'll do that or not (and I think it's unlikely, they'll want to focus on the Ranger) but these eps sure look cool anyway so whatever they'll do - I'll like it

I hope people already understood that Pokémon Sunday will air two anime eps about Natsuya which will be completely about him without twerps and only AFTER his own eps air, he'll appear again in DP with the twerps...
