I have no idea why we don't have a thread for dicussing one of the greatest genre's of music. So yeah I ade this to discuss new releases, old releases the works. Just to get things going, what are your favorite bands or perhaps favorite genre?

pretty much the greatest style of music ever. Fav band of all time: Metallica. Other favs include Volbeat, Amorphis, Dark Tranquillity, Fear Factory, Emperor, Strapping Young Lad and various others.
 
Dragonforce is THE greatest European heavy metal band OF ALL TIME! Heavy metal for the win!
 
Eh.....I'm not a fan of metal of any sort. Whether it's heavy metal, sludge, doom, black, thrash, death, etc. . . I don't like any of it.
 
I'm not too much of a metalhead, but I do like forbidden, iron maiden, metallica, and mutant christ.
 
I don't listen to that much metal save for Dragonforce and Trivium.
 
I adore metal (if nobody figured that out by my Mustaine avatar). Some of my favourite metal bands are Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Gamma Ray, Judas Priest... I like a lot of different stuff, but those are prob my top picks.

I'm seeing Iron Maiden LIVE this July and I am SOOOOOO FUCKING STOKED :D \m/

P.S. Megadeth is like 3600000x better than Metallica just getting that out there

True. Ever since Guitar FUCKING Hero, Metallica has gone downhill...

Also seeing Iron Maiden in the summer maybe.

Blind Guardian is pretty sick, I got tired of Iced Earth after a while though. Check out Gamma Ray if you haven't already... Germany's chief export is power metal, after all. ;)

And OMFG YESSSSS MAIDEN!! I am actually so stoked to see them, I was going to go a couple years back to the Somewhere Back in Time tour, but I was in Japan of all places! o_O

I'm honestly spoiled with concerts this year XD. Today I just bought tickets to see Roger Waters!! :O (haha not metal, I know, but still ~awesome~)

...probably because they haven't done anything for 2 straight years. But trust me, after time, when you listen to Damien, or maybe Come What May, you'll remember why you started to listen in the first place!!!

I thoroughly do not hope that this discussion will be made here. Am I alone in this world when I say that I love both Megadeth and Metallica?

Also, Dragonforce lol. Sloppiest players ever. Herman Ri and Sam Totman could be good if they focused on getting the notes down instead of attempting to shred for 15 minutes, fail, autotune and layer it until it sounds decent, fail at it live again. My opinion though.

Yo, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Primal Fear was the greatest Eurpoean heavy metal of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath > other European heavy metal.

For other genres of metal, Scandinavia in general takes the cake.
