Since it seems to be the done thing to introduce oneself to the forum at large, I'd better throw in a few bits and pieces about myself...

My real name is Mark - I usually put it at the end of my posts anyway when I'm on this or other forums, because countless people look at my username and think I'm female! No intentional deception intended - Astragali are the ankle bones of sheep, which were used as dice in ancient times; I collect dice, and I discovered this word years ago when I was trying to come up with a sufficiently distinctive username :) (Astragali is also a Chinese medicinal herb, but that's quite beside the point :) )

I live in Connecticut, USA, though I'm originally from South Yorkshire, England. I moved here to be with my wife back in 2005, though we're now getting a divorce (and gaming had nothing to do with it!). Ah well :(

I got into Pokémon quite late in the game: I was playing the GameBoy versions on emulators, which I found was no flippin' good for completing the Pokédex... And in 2000, I bought all the boxed sets I could find, and then had no one to play against. No fair.

By sheer luck, I found a GBA cartridge on the ground near a local Japanese restaurant - the cart was LeafGreen - but I didn't have a GBA or DS to play it on... though it gave me the ideal excuse to get the DS! :) The cart turned out to work perfectly, and is coming in very handy when it comes to playing Diamond :D

One of the problems of being a "mature" Pokémon Trainer (I'm 37 at the time of this posting, and supposedly old enough to know better) is that I'd feel uncomfortable asking to trade Pokémon with a kid in person, in case they - or their parents - got the wrong idea about me! *shudder* I play Pokémon because I like playing Pokémon, nothing more...

Other than throwing virtual Poké Balls around, I love using computers, cooking, reading, writing poetry, and doing cross-stitch. This has possibly led people to jump to other sorts of wrong conclusions about me, but it's not stopped me doing what I like to do! :)

Well, I think that's enough about me for a while... Bye all!

Hmm... I was given to understand that Yorkshire, England, was known as "God's own country". Someone's going to have to have a talk with the tourist industry :)

For the heck of it (which is why I do a lot of things), I looked up "God's own country" on Wikipedia - and four places are listed! (New Zealand, Rhodesia, Kerala and Yorkshire)

No comment beyond that...

Wow. That's a lot for the typical hello post. Of course, this means you've proven to be evolutionarialy superior to the other posters. Welcome to the Garden. Try the cabbage.
