so sorry if you're seen a similar introduction over on my PokeCommunity intro! just trying to cover all my bases and make the most poke pals possible :) i've edited it slightly and added some more stuff:

hello all :) i'm cirro (he/him). i'm a 27 year old from canada who has absolutely loved pokemon since i was a kid, but admittedly hasn't kept up with any of the newer generations since about sun and moon (which i went to a midnight release for!). i've played all of the main series games since then, but never really got into them and haven't completed them. i haven't played any of the legends games, but they look super neat. eventually i'll get around to that.

i miss the way the internet used to be, and so i've completely returned to forums and IRC these days. some of my other interests include RPGs (mass effect, dragon age, baldur's gate, etc), cartoons (steven universe, w.i.t.c.h., sonic x, and she-ra), and reading and writing :) i'm in my final semester of a creative writing degree, and in september i'll be undertaking a graduate program to finally switch careers to my dream job: teaching english as a second language!! i also just got engaged to the love of my life.

my first exposure to pokemon was a friend's older brother letting me borrow his copy of yellow when i was in about grade 3. i was awful at it, but loved it - even if i couldn't get past brock. i've loved these silly little creatures ever since. i started playing the games obsessively, watching the anime, getting in ship wars, writing fanfic, and making AMVs as we did back in the day. i was an advanceshipper, ikarishipper, and franticshipper for what it's worth, but i'm too old to get into any more ship wars for any fandom, let alone something chill like pokemon, LOL. enjoy what you enjoy and live and let live!

i also just picked up the Adventures manga the other day to begin re-reading it for the first time since i was a kid - i forgot how good it was!

my favourite region is orre, and you will see me talk about it a lot!! my favourite games are colosseum, gale of darkness, and emerald (i am a child of the third generation), my favourite types are dark and dragon, and my favourite pokemon of all is sableye, followed closely by salamence and absol!

really excited to be here, and hope that we can be friends!

Hi there! I loved Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness! It’s easily one of my favorite games.

Enjoy your time here, and I hope to see you around the forum!

Welcome to the forums (again, LOL)!

Ooh, teaching, lovely! (And congrats on your engagement!!!) I'm hoping to get my Master's over in Japan sometime after I graduate from uni this spring, and I hope to do part-time ESL teaching while I'm over there. If I may ask, what got you interested in English teaching?

...Also, if you'd ever like to share any writing, we'd love to see it in our Writers' Workshop, which I'm the head of! Either way, I hope we'll be seeing each other around a little; you seem nice! :)

Thank you again for the warm welcome! I'd love to get a Master's degree eventually myself, but doing it abroad sounds amazing and a little scary! I wish you the best of luck.

For me, the reason I'd like to get into teaching ESL specifically is because I love languages (I'm Buddhist and I've thought about taking Tibetan lessons online, and took a few summers of Mandarin a few years ago!), and I have always had a lot of friends who are either new immigrants or first-generation Canadians, who I've helped out without any formal training and who have told me I should get into teaching. I also adore learning about different cultures and introducing others to the culture of Canada. I would love to go abroad and teach for a few years, but my real passion I think is helping out adults who have come here to start a new life, and to help them feel a bit more comfortable in a new country. I know if I were starting a new life across the world in a place where I barely spoke the language, I'd be terrified. I guess I want to just be someone that they can lean on and reassure them that it's okay, they belong here, and they've got someone cheering them on! Does that sound corny? Maybe a little, LOL!

I DIDNT WANT TO TALK TOO MUCH LOL but I did want to reply a little!! Maybe I'll take it to, idk, DMs or whatever if needed. I'm forever conscious about being a nuisance, nail painting emoji

Thank you!! I love academia LOL... I almost did my undergrad in Tokyo, but COVID kind of messed up the government's financial aid stuff so I had to stay Stateside looool... I'll end up over there eventually, I've always thought, so I'm not too worried when it'll be LOL! I appreciate it lots :bulbaLove:

That's so neat, amazing!! Religions are really neat... (I'm Shinto, so I've learnt a little about Buddhism since it's so intertwined with Shinto!) And so are languages! (I find myself scrolling linguistics articles on Wikipedia often; today's rabbit hole was languages with rare word orders!) I only know English and Japanese, but I have, like. A laundry list of ones I'd like to learn. (Korean, then French, then Russian, etcetc) So that's so wonderful, I love that...

Even if it's corny, it's such a wonderful sentiment! I think it shows how committed you are to your community -- I really look up to people like that. Change is forever scary, but it's admirable that you want to help make it less so for people. :yay:

Welcome to the forums, cirro! Hope you have a good time reading the Adventures manga (I used to read it a good decade ago but lost interest at some point). What is it about Orre you like to make it your favorite region?

I think a big part of it is just how much I played the Orre games on the Gamecube back in the day! Nostalgia to the max. The design of it is neat too. I've always wanted to live in Agate Village or Phenac City.

omg another coloxd fan hello! welcome to the forums!!

i joined these forums for a similar reason because of missing spaces like this on the internet from my childhood and i was pleasantly surprised to find that bulbagarden is still pretty active and friendly so i hope you're able to make friends here and have a good time!!

Hi Cirro! Welcome to the forums! Hope this place lives up to your expectations :bulbaWave:

Anyway, Sableye is a very valid favorite Pokemon. Love that little gremlin. Gen 3's mon selection is insanely good. In the running for either my first or second favorite dex for new mon.

welcome to the forums!

we have similarities hehe, I also came here because an old school forums like Bulbagarden was a breath of fresh hair in today's internet, and the Mass Effect trilogy is probably the most important game in my life! also strange (in a good way) to see the names W.I.T.C.H. and Sonic X again after all this time, I remember watching them a lot twenty years ago... and I'm also too old now to get into ship wars haha

I hope you'll have fun here!

Welcome!! I'm a big fan of the overall vibe of Orre as well. Your layout is super cool :bulbaLove: A lot of the music is also super cool. The Wild Battle theme from XD is one of my favourites.

Hello! Please enjoy your time here! I used to play Colosseum on a friend's GameCube, and I loved it. Haven't really played Gale of Darkness though. But I hope we can be friends!

If you loved Colosseum, then Gale of Darkness is a must-play if you ever get the chance. I enjoyed both games very much.

Fun fact: I enjoyed Gale of Darkness more than Colosseum despite being able to obtain Croconaw on the latter.

Hi, there! Welcome to Bulbagarden!
Hope you like it here!
