Hey everyone! I just registered because I'm the only one I know who plays any of the games with any regularity, and that's lonely!
A little of my background:
I remember when the anime dubs first came to the US, I thought it was so much fun, but all my peers thought we were too old, so I decided to "hate" it. I secretly watched every day after school... (I guess I really missed out. :-/)
Another important point:
I never played any video games growing up. A couple times I tried my hand at Mario Kart 64 at my friend's house, but I didn't have very good control, and she was a master. Then, one summer in college, I sprained both my ankles and was more or less bedridden for three months. I bought a Gamecube with Zelda Wind Waker... and then I bought Pokémon XD on a whim. I got hooked! :crush:
I'm a real stickler for historical perspectives on art (music, visual arts, video games), so as soon as I realized the games were so substantive, artistic, and sophisticated, I went right to the beginning and played through Red. I got a used Blue, Yellow, Gold, Crystal and Emerald... and played them all! I even bought a Nintendo screwdriver to fix the batteries on my Gold because Johto was so fun.
Then, last month I has saved up enough from my job to buy a shiny new DS and Diamond. Now I have a Platinum, too!
Lastly, my favorite parts of the games in general are the mechanics and programming styles, as well as the multilayer story line that, while directed to younger demographics, is enjoyable by all.
Oops. That was much longer than I meant to write. Sorry!
Nice to meet you all!
