Hello, I'm a recent convert to Pokemon. The games started coming out when I was about 17 and I didn't get into them back then. My girlfriend has always been a fan and has been working on getting me to play it for a long time. When ORAS came out we got one of the games each so I could try it and so we could trade the version-specific pokemon.

I loved it. I've always liked RPGs. I love collecting things and am discovering a love for menu-based adventure games (I recently discovered Fire Emblem too). Pokemon ticks a lot of boxes for me!

I had a great time playing through Alpha Sapphire and spent some time trying to fill up the pokedex. I'm now playing through X. I've not finished the storyline yet but so far like it better than AS.

The bulbagarden wiki was incredibly useful for finding out where pokemon are and how to evolve them. The forum looks friendly too so I thought I'd say "hi" and join the discussion.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I really like Wurmple which I know isn't a popular choice. I was thinking about leveling one up without letting it evolve but the moves it can learn aren't that great.

From my play through, I loved my Torchick (Ball Chick), Shiny Beldum and a Magicarp I nurtured into a Gyardos (Flappy Flaps). Unfortunately, I didn't understand what Event Pokemon were so I missed out on getting another Beldum in my copy of OR (and X if that was ever an option). I made sure to get Darkrai's in each game I have!

You'll soon come to realize that the Pokemon community is huge. Like monumental. And if you're into it and have access, I highly suggest attending tournaments and racking up points. Pokemon VGC is pretty awesome, and the strategies you'll see are ace.

Also, welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't considered tournaments before. Maybe one day!
