I've never seen indents on forums before, even though I know a lot about BBC. It's new to me. So there's a button where you can add indents. To me a indent is a small space at the begining of a new paragraph other than the first one.

But not here, it's a huge weird space that I've never seen before!
Why can I make a simple space between paragraphs? It's just too big then from what I've always learned. Unless that's how you do it? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately it looks as if it's set to a certain distance it will indent for you. Unless the Decrease Indent button works on your end; the only way to have a smaller indentation, is to manually indent (spacebar 5 times) as much distance as you would like.

Whenever i was told to indent in school, instead of using the Tab button to make an indent, i'd simply hit the Space Bar about 3-4 times to get the desired amount of space. (i too think the preset indentation is far too big, especially when your paragraph is just one sentence long x.x)

As far as I am aware the standard indent is the use of the Tab button on your keyboard or by tapping the Space key five times. I'm relatively sure the indent BBCode uses the same standards.

Oh, I know that. Then again, I was just trying to give you general information regarding the indenting function in general (really, the whole topic was just a blah of indent *blames tiredness*).

As far as I am aware the only way to indent the first line of a paragraph on the internet is to space five times. There is the indent BBCode but it creates a hanging indent-style indent. If you want a demonstration:

Those are the only two methods that I am aware of to create an indent.

Um... The way standards compliant browsers render HTML means five spaces will NOT show as five spaces but instead they're condensed into one. You'll need to use non-breaking spaces (use Character Map to locate "No-Break Space") instead.

Soul, the problem with that is that when entered, the no-break spaces come out mangled up as asterisks:
